why is it necessary that every anime must have an "let's go to the beach" episode, or a "lets visits the cherry blossoms" episode? do the viewers actually request this stuf?

Well, Japan is an island, though I don't know 1st hand, I imagine it is a pretty typical thing to go to the beach. Also it is a fabulous opportunity for fan service.
Sakura (Cherry Blossoms) are very traditional and highly appreciated in Japan. They have a holiday for it and the whole nine yards. It is quite common for family or friends to go some place and have a picnic near blooming cherry trees. In some places like Sapporo (North island capital city) the local government has planted Cherry Trees along important parks and such. Besides that, the Japanese are world reknown for their adoration of anything cute or pretty. Sakura are unavoidable. |

Or, quite often we can just combine the two into "winter weekend getaway episode." |

Perhaps because most animes are based on Japanese surroundings, and those events are mostly the activities japanese do. It's something the japanese can relate too i guess.

You can actually buy a variety of Japanese cherry trees in the States. You can even buy a cutting from the trees in DC that were gifted to the US from Japan in 1912, planted by First Lady Helen Taft.... look here, but it isn't cheap, and Texas is pretty extreme for the growing range, but they could grow there, depending on the soil. |

I've got a Japanese cherry, two Japanese apple and a Japanese maple at my place. They're pretty sweet.
I've heard that cherry blossom viewing is kind of taking a dive in popularity of late in Japan, so I wonder if we'll continue to see it in anime? |

According to this site, they are fairly adaptable, and can grow in Texas. Not too bad a price, either. If the link does not work, then go to www.naturehills.com and search for "Yoshino Cherry". |

Well, Wild Cherry Trees grow very well here in the Southeast, and the flowers look pretty similar if you ask me.
I'm sure any good nursery will have Japanese Cherry Trees or could get them for you. They have a ton of them in Washington D.C., so Mid-Atlantic and Southeast will work fine. Texas should be all right if you water it. |

Camping has taken a serious dive in popularity in the United States. So has theme park attendance. Sitcoms still rely on these formulas, though, because even though they're not the 'thing to do' anymore, they're still relatable situations. Not everything is based on what's 'now'. -Zac |
