It would seem Yardrat and Yardrat-jin are direct translations from Japanese.

that's a bit hard to believe... because japanese is a CV (consonant-vowel) language. you wouldn't find a cluster like "rdr" in japanese.. it would have to be "rVdVrV" (where V is a vowel). so it'd be along the lines of "ya rV dV ra to"... |

I was just going by what was being said by some of the apparently older DBZ sites I could find, you know, the ones that hate FUNi and avoid their translations. Maybe it's chinese, doubt it, but now I'm curious about it's origin.

I would have to look it up to be certain, but I think in Japanese it was Yaadoratto. Maybe there was only a single consonant on that t, but I seem to remember two. |
