Considering a convention is coming to my state fairly soon, does anyone know of an easy costume that could be made that would take very little time or something?

It'd be kind of hard to do Duo because I recently got my hair cut oober short, but then again, a wig could work. Either that, or I could get cat ears and go as a neko, or something like that. Either that or I could pass as a school boy (no evil dresses *burns a dress*).

Here are costumes I've tried:
wolfwood- Trigun
Sanosuke- Rurouni Kenshin/ Samurai X
Kenshin- " " " "
Please note I used a real sword and I don't recommend this to anyone.

Katana or a western sword? A Sakabatou or a regular sword?

I plan to go as Saitou for AWA10 next year, and already have the costume mostly assembled (just need to hop down to Wal-Mart and pick up some odds & ends once I get some money). I'm using a real katana (already got it cleared with the AWA staff), and I'm using my own hair for the bangs (tying the rest back & hiding it under my collar).

I know! I'll either go as Sanosuke or Wolfwood! It'll be cool!

Yeah, I always use a real sword if I cosplay as someone from Kenshin. Conventions generally let you bring a real katana if you "peace bond" it with the security first.

The only problem you'll face is that there will be a *lot* of Wolfwoods, so you might get lost in the crowd. Then again, that depends how much you want to stand out.

Well, I'd strengthen that statement: You _must_ check with security before GOING to the convention, so that you know whether you can bring steel.
Some cons prohibit any kind of weapon, even if it's blunt, peace knotted, or stuck in the scabbard the entire time.
Better to err on the side of caution than to show up and be surrounded by police when you make your first battle pose. ;)

okay
1. I do and they usually let me.
2. If they do say that no steel weapons are allowed, I usually just bring my Bokken [wooden sword]
3. That has never happened and I hope it never does
Lastly I practice Budokai so I can easily obtain the said swords.

Budoukai? Simply means a martial arts tournament....
As far as I know, not a martial arts style....

yeah... "budokai" is "marital arts tournament" or assembly... not any specific form of martial arts.
that aside, I don't practice any form of martial arts, and yet I can still obtain katana. anyone can, if they know where to shop. ;)

True enough... 20 bucks and eBay will buy you a katana... not anything near even a passably poor one, but it will buy you one sufficient for cosplay...

How many cons have you gone to? (Different ones) Yeah, Cookie was right. That was an oversight on my part. Though, there are some cons that not only allow blades, but sell them extensively in their dealer room, but that's certainly a minority.

I sit on my ass in front of a computer with an internet connection so I can easily obtain the said swords.

I found a site that sells reverse blade swords and it took me less than a minute.
After a little more looking I found a company that makes a hand crafted replica of Kenshin's sakabatou all you need is about eighteen hundred dollars. (not saying what company for obvious reasons)
