Why is it so rare to have anything in this section? I would quite like to be able to go directly from an encyclopedia entry to any of the news relating to it that's been on the site. It's a useful feature for the entires that have it, so why don't more encyclopedia entries have them?

I suppose one could try doing a search for the anime/manga's title, but that doesn't give the nice formatting and headlines of the "In the News" section. The next question, then, would be: why even have it?

Ever since sometime in '06 the feature that automatically links relevant news items to their respective shows has stopped working. Hence why there has been no updates since.

So I think if any new news items are loaded they must be done so manually.

At least I think thats why.

Thanks for the reply. If anyone else can shed some light on this, I'm still interested.

Also, if ANN's given up on the "In the News" section, then is there any chance ANN might just sack it in favor of a link that, when clicked, will perform a search using the anime/manga name?

I mean, I think it would be darn simple to do something like this:
a) Grab the title of the anime/manga from the header and assign it to a string variable called "title".
b) Create a new string called "searchQuery" and assign to it the value of "title" as well as the string " more:news"
c) Create a link that searches using that search query.

It could actually be all done in one line of code, but it's easier to read if I write it that way.

That said, I don't know anything about programming for webpages, so I don't know how easy it would be for ANN to change this.

Why not extend the staff to manually place the links in? I'd do it! I'm not kidding... unless the feature is simply fixed.
