Is there anywhere to get these separately besides somewhere like ebay? As I started collecting anime I didn't have much experience at first and now that I have quite a bit more I'm missing a few of the art boxes. I started out buying mainly from best buy and they wouldn't always have them, etc.
Now I'm trying to see if I can get any art boxes to fill in some of my full series sets. Searching for some of these I can't find any boxes so I think maybe some series don't have the boxes? The ones I'm missing are Shakugan no Shana Fate/Stay Night Trinity Blood Solty Rei Black Cat Tsubasa |

I know RACS has/had some Full Metal Panic! TSR artboxes separate with no DVDs for sale.
Thats the only one I actually recall seeing but it might mean they do have some others. |

All that you listed had artboxes except Shakugan no Shana, and they were all volume 1 releases.
I don't have personal knowledge of any place that sales legit art boxes without their accompanying DVD. Of the ones that you listed, all are still readily available regular prices except Trinity Blood, which goes for a ridiculous amount of money anywhere you can find it. |

recently i've actually been thinking about buying artboxes too since i am missing a few. i've also never seen/heard about a shakugan no shana artbox but it sounds nice to have since i havnt gotton around to collecting the series yet. It might actually be easier to sell the dvd you originally get with the artbox and then buy it the artbox+dvd combo.
ikillchicken, may i ask what site is RACS? i tried googling it but got some wierd refrigerator selling site. |

I did the same thing when I started collecting...I pretty much had to bite the bullet and re-buy several Vol.1+Artbox editions, such as Full Metal Panic!, His & Her Circumstances, and Last Exile. You can usually find some sort of trade-in program to get a little money or credit for the extra DVDs; in fact I think RACS has such a program, as do animenation.com and the perennial convention dealer, Fast Food Anime. |

That's pretty much the trick to it- only once in a blue moon does someplace offer a standalone artbox (usually a dedicated online seller like TRSI or RACS)... and when they do, it's a limited thing, sells out fairly quickly, and becomes basically unavailable. I often buy used box+dvd sets at Amazon to fill in when I've forgotten one. You should also look at rightstuf, since they're having 20% off all in-stock merchandise, which might be handy for boxes whose used price hasn't really dropped yet- and they do move artboxes to the bargain bin once in awhile. Do exercise some caution buying from the Amazon sellers, though, and pay extra close attention to the condition listings, so you don't get stuck with a messed-up box. I had one seller send me a perfect box on the first order, but the second looked like it'd been stepped on. it fact, it was ripped completely open along one edge of the top and about 1/4 down the back. Since returning it and buying from the next seller was a $10 difference, I opted to keep it and employ some crafting skills for repair- looks pretty decent now, actually. |

All those series have art boxes save for one. The Tsubasa Chronicle art box is still available, but you'll be stuck with two volume ones. Anyways, RightStuf occassionally sells empty art boxes. I bought the Fruits Basket and Vision of Escaflowne singles, but bought the empty art boxes from RightStuf. Anyways, a dude named Paul Champagne makes custom design boxes. They're usually a lot nicer looking (he's done official ones for Neon Genesis Evangelion, Gasaraki, and Bubblegum Crisis) than the official art boxes. I have his custom design Trigun box which looks so much better than Geneon's release. But his boxes are expensive. I'm still on the fence on whether or not I will get his Cowboy Bebop box... Here's his link: http://www.designpaulchampagne.com/ |

the Trinity Blood box is worth getting, just for the sheer quality of production - it's got like a cool double-hinge/sliding door thing going on. you could always check rightstuf, animenation, anime castle, among others.

Yeah I noticed that, though the thing does look really sweet I have to say. Sadly 55$ from marketplace on amazon is a bit over my limits. I may break down and do it provided I face a few months of not having anything new I want (that is seeming extremely unlikely though, I've already budgetted my anime purchases for the next 3 months and exceeded that anyway lol) |
