Thats incorrect. Aksys is publishing Fate/Extra, not XSeed. |

Dark Souls . I got a week of vacation set aside for that, Rage and the Ico collection. I see myself getting through Rage and maybe the Ico collection but I have a feeling Dark Souls may take a few weeks.
Like last week I am very excited for the new(or remade) Ys game. I had so much fun with Seven and this looks like there will be some noticeable addition to the formula. And any Vanillaware game that makes it here is okay by me. Last edited by The Count on Wed Sep 28, 2011 2:43 pm; edited 2 times in total |

All this talk of witches and no mention of Touhou Project's secondary main character (and fandom darling) Kirisame Marisa? For shame.
Now that that's out of my system, I'm very curious to see how The Witch and the Hundred Cavalrymen turns out. NIS never ceases to make games that I enjoy on some level, and it'll be interesting to see what they can do with a polygonal game, given their mastery of sprite-based graphics. |

Francesca: Wow, never heard of this one.
Grand Knights History: This one I'm looking especially forward to because: 1. It's Vanillaware and 2. The premise sounds like fun. Been waiting for the announcement to come through on this game for a while. I'm so glad the PSP has not been completely abandoned for that silly Vita yet. Ys IV: I still want and need to play VII as well as the other awesome ones. Dark Souls: Not that I care much at all for this or its predecessor, but what was that about doomed dragons? |

Correction on Ys Celceta article: Mask of the Sun is the canonical game, not Dawn of Ys.

The alchemists in the Atelier series are more like witches than anything. They actually take random items, throw them into a big, bubbling cauldron, and pull out a finished item. How you can bake bread in a boiling cauldron is beyond me, its gotta be witchcraft!
Speaking of the Atelier series, NISA Shop botched things once again and delayed their shipment of Atelier Totori until the 29th. Thought I'd be playing it now, but that isn't meant to be. I swear I need to stop looking forward to getting things from them on time, I think I've only ever gotten one item from them on time. I remember one game (AT3?) got delayed due to snow in Texas, before that was an error where they forgot to pack something in the game boxes, and two times before that there was some sort of misprint or something. This time it sounds like their manufacturer sent it to the warehouse only yesterday rather than last week as expected. i really don't get how they can botch this so often... Emerje |

Taito's Fairyland Story. 1985. Just a shout out for another old skool witch.
Street Fighter 3 Third Strike is still the hardcore of the hardcore 2d fighting games. Street Fighter 4 is certainly very nice, but it's a little too casual-game friendly for my tastes. But that's why it's more popular I guess. |

Only place I heard the psp was dead was from the idiot who writes this column, and every other week when a new game is announced trying to deflect his or her ignorance.
Like all sony consoles, they always get a string of solid rpg titles before they go to green pastures. Just look at the ps2 it still had a couple of decent rpgs come out, as recently as Sakura Wars 5 in March of 2010. And unlike who runs Nintendo, the people releasing these rpgs know that the owners of psp have not all magically had their psps spirited away. If they already have the game made for the most part , why not release the games, rpg fans tend to be the most loyal and buy games for system well past their prime. Look at pier solar for the sega genesis. So can we please get a bold statement at the top of the x button column where the author admits they get paid to blow hot air out of their wind hole. |

One major original release isn't living, it's life support. Same goes for the PSP, it's on its last leg in the US. The PSP only has four original, full sized (not Minis, not ports) games coming out for the holiday season after last week's release of Persona 2; Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Impact and Fate/Extra, Corpse Party, and Grand Knights History (the last two doesn't have a date, we'll see if they're on time) both imports. That's hardly what I would call alive and well, that's a last gasp. Even NISA who released Sakura Wars 5 has stated that they don't want to release games for the PSP any longer and only changed their minds because they decided to honor their prior obligations to Imageepoch. That's the only PSP game they've announced so far next year, they haven't even announced their own PSP games for next year (Makai Kingdom) despite just announcing a bunch of games for next year. You know you're doomed when even NISA doesn't care. And it's not like there are no games to release, the PSP is still in the top 3 selling hardware every week in Japan and games are still hitting the tops of the charts over there. Yet outside of Japan there are no original games being made any longer, certainly not anything people will rush out and buy a PSP to play (unlike in Japan), just inferior ports of games. So what are you seeing that those of us mourning the PSP's demise aren't? Emerje |

The redhaired woman in the Ys 4 remake is Karna.
http://hardcoregaming101.net/ys/ys3.htm I might have to buy a Vita for this because Ys is the epitome of action games. But I don't want to. Ugh. |

I'm guessing that the only gaming news you read is this column and perhaps some extremely niche, insular forums. |
