I was kind of hesitating about posting this, but since the previous thread about 4chan on the news nobody had problems with, I thought it would be okay. 4chan is a collection of image boards that are mainly anime based (although many anons won't admit to it being anime based as not to be labed as weeaboos).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DNO6G4ApJQY

To tell the truth, I was laughing to tears at how gigantically misinformed and ignorant this report is. The random car explosion was great. I've been on 4chan for a good two years, and while the users are far from what I'd call "nice", they aren't a "gang of hackers" with a sole intent to "kill" as the report makes them out to be. In fact, a very small percentage of 4chan are actually hackers (probably somewhere around 1% or less). Most 4chan users are just random people looking for laughs, often times out of crude/offensive images, making fun of others (or themselves), acting like idiots, or invasions of other forums (which I might add is actually against the rules of 4chan). None of them really have the resources, know how, or guts to pull of anything serious, which is were this report goes wrong. It even says right at the top of /b/ that "Only a fool would take anything posted here as fact."...

It should also probably be noted that last night 4chan raided the Fox news message boards, subsequently crashing them. Currently, the forums don't seem to be in good shape, as only the general forum seem to be online... I can only guess the others have been ruined beyond repair...

I don't think it was 4chan specifically but people on the internet who go by anonymous in general. on 4chan the use of screenames isn't nessesary and most are too lazy to type one so everyone comes up anonymous. But when i seen the fox11 thing I didn't hear mention of 4chan. In that flash presentation it did look like they used a screenshot of it though.

BTW pants...spoiler[.EPIC LULZ! ][/spoiler]

Probably about the same percentage of FOX NEWS employees who are actual journalists.

Well it seems this newscast just stirred things up with the 4channer crowd as shown here

In other anime related news there a koi kaze story happening there too....pretty whoa if its real.

Next in our broadcast wellknown text board attacks ANN next on spamming spree.

Im just screwing around but still this makes me say a giant WTF.

Laughing

All I know is I never got the whole "secret website who harbers crazed hackers who will kill to terrorize individuals". It just seems like a whole lot of bull to me to blame 4 chan, or even label it as a "secret hangout" the hackers probably go to alot of sites.

Or CNN or MSNBC I might add.

I know you don't have to be a hacker to crash a message board, but what does that mean exactly? Does it mean they just all go there and spam?? Or do they actually introduce something that crashes the system?

Anyway, for such a harmless bunch of folks they sure organize and retaliate quickly. I can't imagine how many people it would take to get on board if all that is needed is spam.

I think it's a function of the amount of free time they can devote to it. If any of them had girlfriends, the situation would be different.

Really lulz, I couldn't help but laugh through all of that. But on a serious note, i feel sympathetic for those who received death threats where they've gotten scared and went to an extent to protect themselves. As for the guy on myspace, don't really care for him at all. I've been going through youTube and now people saying that Ebaum needs to die. Rolling Eyes

Thats hilarious. We must stop the internet hate machine and their gay porn!

I nearly wet myself laughing when the guys girlfriend left him because he had gay porn on his myspace. Obviously it was either an excuse or she didn't trust him anyway and their relationship was gonna fall apart if it was killed that easy.

There are more image boards where users go by anonymous, but 4chan is most well known for it. I have no doubt that 4chan (and its offshoots) is who they were talking about. The /i/nvasion board that was pictured wasn't from 4chan though. Rather an offshoot of 4chan called 420chan.

Yeah, it's not 4chan. 4chan doesn't have an invasion board.

I laughed a lot though, had many lulz, if you will. I'll laugh even harder when they figure out that Anonymous is just one person.

That video clip is hilarious; I almost died from laughing at the "LULZ IS A CORRUPTION OF L O L WICH STANDS FOR LAUGH OUT LOUD" part.

The Myspace guy was the one who tipped off Fox News of 4chan/420chan's existence, by the way.

This vid brings the lulz. I hear anonymous (or Ebaum's World Wink ) is already retaliating.
