Gonna watch, the whole aspect of the RPG thing is kinda a first to me, I've played a few games myself. Plus the character designs look for the Light Novel look really nice.

Well if the books are anything to go by only the premise is comparable. I actually enjoy SAO more than .hack as it is less obtuse than it. The world and peoples motivations etc are more accessible.
Only the first book sticks with the tired 'stuck in the game' gimmick, after that it deals with events both in and outside of a couple of different games. I am wondering what they will adapt, if it goes the more common route it seems these days of the 1 cour, then it will likely only be the first book.
In which case this is more a romance story than anything else.

Actually, I was thinking about this after watching the new HxH.
Quote: | The story of Sword Art Online revolves around a genius programmer named Kazuto "Kirito" Kirigaya who enters a virtual-reality, massively multi-player online (MMO) world called "Sword Art Online." There is no escape from this world unless the player clears the game, but "game over" means the death of the player. |
All this needs is to mention card collecting and it's Greed Island from Hunter X Hunter
