No matter what I look at in this Manga it seems like it's a fail proof western adaption (more so then most manga to Hollywood attempts) for both Western Audience and fans of the manga. It's as if the manga was aimed at the western culture. The plot just seems like something I can really get into and, as the article already mentioned, it has a Halo vibe to it.
Adding Brad Pit to it all is just the icing on the cake. Last edited by rinkwolf10 on Sat Sep 24, 2011 2:09 am; edited 1 time in total |

Sorry but I've never heard them. Also, this is just my outsiders opinion. I mean if this ever plays in a theater it would defiantly be on my top to watch list. That's all I'm saying. I'm not saying it will do the Manga Justice, it just seems like a good plot for a western movie that sounds like it would do well in adapted by Hollywood. Where as Speed Racer seemed like a good idea because the anime was a hit when it was release here. So, the Hollywood adaption was trying to ride on nostalgia for the most part. About Noir haven't seen it yet and I've not heard much about it, as in nothing bad but nothing good either, so I can't saying anything about it. If I'm not mistaken it still has to air, Spike didn't air it yet, has it? Sorry, it was Starz not Spike and yes it has till to air. animenewsnetwork.com/news/2011-08-10/live-action-noir-tv-series-slated-for-summer-2012 it will be coming out next year. So, what ever you heard about it was just fans bashing a yet to be released adaption, in other words TROLLS. I wouldn't take their opinions seriously. |

A text novel? OK then. Guaranteed otaku would have no complaints about the adaptation. Because they haven't read it. |

Well, actually, the lead in the novel is once again, Japanese. |

Novel. IIRC the only illustration is the one on the cover (which, being delicious ABe-ness, was the main reason I picked it up to look at in the shop) |

The live-action Noir doesn't even exist yet... Speed Racer nailed it as far as capturing the feel and tone of the original work and accurately adapting it to another medium. Unfortunately it suffered from "garbage in, garbage out" and the end result was a chessy, hokey, and not very good anime ending up as a cheesy, hokey, and not very good movie. |

But who would know? Otaku don't read no text novel with no accompanying pics of cute girls! |

So long as you through in smiley faces you can spout all the nonsense you like eh?
The article mentioned that but that was about the old movie script not the novel and it mentioned being like a big screen version of Halo as a problem that has been resolved. |

Because it's true that it's funny! Just you watch, and let's see if otaku complain. |

I've read the novel and liked most of it. What will make or break this movie isn't the lead, but whomever is cast as 'Full Metal Bitch'.
That said, I'm a touch disappointed that Hollywood didn't even try to keep this from being westernized. I understand why they did it, but Brad Pitt? Aside from the obvious 'name-value', the lead of this novel came across as a young, twenty-something rookie, and Brad Pitt's 'twenty-something' years are a distant memory now. C'mon, Hollywood, there isn't a hunky, Asian-American actor out there waiting for his breakout role? Find that guy and save the Brad Pitt fee for the FX houses. Any casual interest in this movie is going to come from 'Halo'-like trailers/commercials of aliens being blown the 'eff up by man-powered robot suits. Not the 'Moneyball'-guy. |

Yeah, but it's called Wikipedia. Bob: It's pretty Western-friendly in general, but that is still no excuse to try to at least look for an Asian/Asian-American guy to play the role, especially since Brad Pitt would be twice the age of the character, anyway. I don't get why Hollywood still has an aversion to Asian/Asian-American actors as leads, even though Hangover 2, Harold and Kumar, and Fast 5 have been hits. |
