Not at all. Ghibli is still very heavily DVD-focused. It has sold ~300k (250k DVDs, 50k BDs) copies, which is pretty dang good for non-Miyazaki. I haven't seen Arrietty yet, but I have high hopes for Director Yonebayashi.

I don't see why this is such a hard thing to understand.

Ghibli stuff isn't really for the average anime fan, more fun the average mainstream audience; which buy DVDs, not Blu-Rays

Besides, Ghibli/Miyazaki have snubbed anime fans quite a lot in the past. To the point where Miyazaki refuses to call his works 'anime' and 'manga' and decided to make up his own words to refer to them as. He kind of hates anime. And MP3 players. And manga. And trains.. and people. Otaku aren't really on the best of terms with Ghibli.

At least Western otaku seem to love Ghibli. Kinda reminds me how Akira Kurosawa was appreciated more by the West than by the Japanese.
