Is it wrong that I'm (almost) pleased we're so behind with releases because I don't want the series to end? *grins sheepishly* Embarassed

Really, I'm far too old to be so captivated by this manga. But it's just so damn GOOD. *wistful sigh* : )

Man, why must we be so far behind! I've read 22 volumes now and with the site going down, I'm going to have to wait till Tokyopop releases vol.23 and with the 4 month between schedule they've got going, it'll be a while before I see it Crying or Very sad

Though honestly, I was surprised when I heard there was a vol.23 since vol. 22 summed basically everything up. It seemed like a good ending.

I think the 4 month gap was to prevent us from catching right up to the Japanese release; maybe now that it's over, the volumes will come out faster.

I've only read Fruits Basket in English, but I'm glad to hear that it's ended. Don't get me wrong, I love this series with a burning passion, but I've been feeling as though the story has been stretched out, and just not as good as the earlier volumes were. But that's what I get when one of my favorite series is as popular as Fruba ^^;

You kind of put yourself in that situation by taking the illegal route. Rolling Eyes

This is great news. The ending was just terrific. You guys will love it when it comes out over here. I'm more curious about who won the last popularity contest though.

True, but I am still puchasing the manga released by Tokyopop so least I am supporting the legal version as well. Bought the first 13 volumes so far.

23 volumes; it's a nice place to stop, I think.
I'm with the others in wondering that since the Japanese release is now done, maybe Tokyopop will speed up releases? Of course, that's assuming that it is possible to speed up the releases. And you know what they say about assuming.

Woot, just 3 more volumes to go for me. I have already purchased all volumes up to volume 20 (except for 3, 15, 17). Screw Tokyopop, I've been buying Chuang Yi :p Not only is Chuang Yi ahead of Tokyopop, they have the same manga, yet take up less shelf space, and cost less, and yes, it IS in English.

Anyway, I'm really interested in how the story ends ^^

Chuang Yi have lovely dust jackets (compared to some Tokyopop releases which usually... don't). Also, the one manga that is ahead of the US release in Australia Smile though am a little behind, this article should spur me into action. After all, I want to see what happens after vol20. But awesome all the same that it is over and there will be a conclusion.

Chuang Yi already released vol 21. don't know why Tokyopop is so slow. most counties have vol 19 or 20 already.

Tokyopop's slow, because they know where the money's at for them. They put out Fruits Basket at a faster speed, and they won't make as much revenue over time. But at least you get your series from them every four months. Titles like Lupin and Tokyo Tribes got reduced to two volumes a year.
