I have just begun this series and I find it to be mysterious enough to draw me in. I find the animation to be cool. When I saw the first episode, I have to admit I was scared and creeped out, but at the same time the characters, namely Loki, were very interesting. I was hooked right off the bat. What do you think about this series? Was it worth it?

I watched the first episode also...i found it very interesting but than it kind of reminded me of Case Closed...
i know case closed is not a mythical detective...but still the whole thing about little kid being genius and i don't know maybe the whole mystery is that the little kid is acutally an adult and been cursed by some sort of mythical creature that he wants to get a revenge or something...so that's why he is a mythical detective? anyways i do think it's worth it even though i havn't watched it myself yet...i have a good feeling about this series

I thought it was the most average thing I'd ever seen. It "wowed" me with just how average it is. Average animation, average premise, average characters (not to mention the characters are developed very average-ly does that make any sense?), and average magic fights that remind me too much of Magical Girl anime like Tokyo Mew Mew. It wasn't bad, per se, but it was so typical I just couldn't get past the first four episodes.

It gets better as it goes along. It's played mostly for laughs. Several important characters are introduced in the next few disks, including some family members.
If you are familiar with the Norse mythology, there are quite a few "inside jokes" that come into play, especially in disks 2 and 4. Overall one of my favorite series.

I saw the first episode awhile back, and while it's funny to say, it reminded me of the lingering spirits/regrets/afterlife lonliness scenes from Amaenaideyo!!. I kind of liked the first episode, but I've heard that the rest is a bit different. Still, I'll have to watch Detective Loki sometime just to see if it can surpass Shrine of the Morning Mist as my personal "Most awesomely medocre anime ever."

I'm currently collecting this series, and from what I've seen so far (5 episodes worth) it really is as mediocre as I've heard. Still, I went into collecting this show with those expectations because it's the kind of show I usually like anyhow, with or without any substance. I expect it to get better eventually and have a bit of story later on though. I just don't expect the show overall to be terribly good or bad. The opening intro is awesome though .

I totally agree with you, but I dont entirely hate the anime. I mean Im not the type to whole heartly judge an anime just on watching one episode. So Im going to watch to see whats to come, by watching it on The Anime Network also.

They took Anime Network off of ON Demand exept for the events and specials section so I only got up to episode like 5 or something. It was mediocre I have to agree, but that isn't that bad. I was still committed to watching it.

I loved Loki Ragnarok! It was another one of those anime that I only started watching because Paku Romi was in it, but I was surprised by how much I actually liked it. I think what really got me about it was the fact that yes, it was mediocre in every way possible. The characters were nothing special, the story was nothing special, and it was really nothing I hadn't seen before. I think after the first disc I described it to a friend as "Shaman King on crack and for girls". But still, even though it almost gave me cavities, watching it made me feel warm and fuzzy inside and that's what kept me hooked. Of course, it gets much more interesting as the story progresses.
Although it's nothing special, Loki has at least two things going for it; great music and KILLER seiyuu. I already mentioned the ever-fabulous Paku-sama, and Horie Yui, Shinichirou Miki, and Takehito Koyasu are all cast members as well. The character theme songs are all amazing (my particular favorite being Get Real, Heimdall's song, even though it's totally opposite his personality) and the voice acting itself is superb. The characters are stereotypical factory models, yes, but they're a lot of fun. Also, Loki has an absolutely beautiful soundtrack. When you're watching the anime, the sillier tracks tend to stand out, but I highly recommend the OST, as there are some breathtaking piano solos.
Loki Raganarok is not rich and thought provoking, but it's great to put on when you're feeling down because it's just a really fun watch.
