I know the BRS blu-ray comes with English subtitles but before I drop the money on it, I'm trying to gauge the quality of the actual English. Are the subtitles just as nice as any American release - by which I mean almost free of grammatical and other errors - or is it more Engrish like some of the Hong Kong and Taiwanese stuff I've seen back in the day?

If you're talking about the boxset for the recently aired TV show, it should have the same subs as the niconico simulcast. Dunno how good they were though - someone who watched the show via niconico can chime in.

I bought the Collector's Edition and watched it week or two ago. The subs seemed fine. I would say they are on par with those on R1 releases or other simulcasts.

As far as I know Sam Pinansky (Quarkboy) worked on the subtitles (not sure if it's him and/or his team). It was mentioned on an ANNCast (should be around 29:40). IMO, there shouldn't be any worries on subtitles if they are involved.

I seem to have forgotten to specify that I meant the 2010 OVA set as opposed to the new TV series sets. I appreciate the feedback but I thought I would clarify in case that changed anything.

The subs on that set are below-average but watchable. There's a lot of odd punctuation and typos however.
