Who do you think is the greatest anime villain? Question

I would like to hear others people favourites and of course why they chose this particular person over so many other anime villains.

Anime villains aren’t hard to come by and as pretty much essential to a good conflict in an anime series. The conflict of course is also essential because it is there that the narrative is propelled forwards.

Villains have been around in film and anime since motion picture and anyone with a spark of imagination begun. They have now become an essential character to the plot and to be honest always have. They are there simply to cause friction between to opposite forces. Good and EVIL. The most classic example of this can be seen in star wars.

Anyway enough of that rubbish which most probably doesn’t make any sense. Here’s my favourite and who I think is the greatest villain in anime.

Vicious from cowboy bebop.
He is ruthless, bloodthirsty, cunning and ambitious, willing to do anything in order to secure a position of power. Which are all classic traits for a great villain.

He is often referred to or depicted as a poisonous snake. His weapon of choice is not a firearm, but a katana which he wields skilfully.

These can all be seen as normal and sometimes clichéd traits for a villain in anime or film. But what stands out about Vicious is his eloquence. I get a great sense of style and subtleness about him. The way he dresses is stylish and he's hardly ugly. He is an elegant killer which are hard to come by these days the only one I can think of off the top of my head would be in film - Hannibal lecter from the silence of the lambs. He is probably the best fit for vicious. He is tremendously ruthless but brings certain suaveness to the name serial killer.

Anyway vicious is my fav and i believe he may be the greatest but im interested in who u guys think is the greatest.

also feel free to comment on what I just said as im sure it makes no sense and im a complete idiot. ok Very Happy

thank you
Smile

This topic does look very familiar, although I didn;t post on the other one...

I choose Pikachu. That little cute bastard caught me up in an "anime" when I was young and vulnurable. Now I look back and wonder what the hell I was thinking. He was not the villain in the anime itself, but he is the greatest anime villain.

But in the anime itself, I would say Harry McDowell from Gungrave. spoiler[He killed his best friend (Brandon), Brandon's love interest, and Brandon's father figure!] Lucky for Brandon that he was an orphan. I hate to see what he would've done to his family.

Yeah this question started another thread already (I know because it was me who started it hehe) but it is always cool to see fresh answers from new people who didn't participate on the previous one. I don't think you should have to go through every thread of 25 pages and be forced to post there, so I'll give you my answer here too.

The coolest villains of all time are:

1) Aquarius Kamus from Saint Seiya, because he spoiler[ was an amazing and cool character. He fought against the student of his student (Cygnus Hyoga) to the death in order to wake up Hyoga's 7th sense ]

2) Kuroro Lucifer from Hunter x Hunter. He is a vicious ruthless psychopath and extremely powerful even though he shows a genuinely warm and friendly exterior.

3) Hisoka from Hunter x Hunter. He is another psychopath, but does random acts of kindness. I like the fact that he is so whimsical, he just comes and goes as he pleases. And he is extremely powerful.

I can appreciate the lulling logic of

Aion of Chrno Crusade. He is a villain but he is excellent in that you can relate to him through his simple logic. He is effective because he is able to relate.

[Read the rules about signatures and you'll find your answer. Also, do not mindlessly list or drop names. Explain why you think someone is the "best villain ever." And finally, your grammar and spelling need improving before you continue to post. -Nagi]

If you "ain't gonna touch this one," then why are you posting here?

Good job with the self-righteous trolling. Next time though, keep it to yourself.

My greatest anime villain is Hao Asakura of Shaman King coz he has a great oversoul. He can defeat all of the members of Yeoh Asakura(his brother).

I have to go with Akio Ohtori of Utena as one of mine. spoiler[Sick bugger uses his sister as a prize and has sex with her (IMO). Has other students fight each other over Anthy. Even though he's engaged, he sudeuces Utena. And all to get inside the castle.]

Naraku of Inu Yasha is another. He hates Kikyo because his original self "loved" her. Hates inu Yasha because Kikyo loved him and vice versa. Hates Kagome because she loves Inu Yasha, is the reincarnation of Kikyo and can see the Jewel shards. Not to mention the fact that he treats Kagura the Wind Sorceress like crap.

Lastly, Nakago of Fushigi Yugi. This one uses everybody! Yui, for her wishes from the god. His team, to help get Yui to be able to get her wishes. Miaka and her group to force Yui to act and hunt for the way to get the wishes. And he doesn't care when his own team members get killed. Well, except for Soi, but it was just a tad wierd that spoiler[he carried her body with him.]

I have to say that Naraku is a very cool villain. No matter how many times Inuyasha or Sesshoumaru will strike him, their attacks will just go right through him. I think his wolf head costume was better though.

My favorite anime villain is definitely Yami Marik from Yu-Gi-Oh! He was completely evil, but was also very calm and collected. My only regrets about him are that he had to be stuck in an anime were all the battles were card games and that 4Kids attempted to tone down his evil-ness and also gave him a bad English voice. Evil or Very Mad

Another villain of whom I am fond is spoiler[Sosuke Aizen] from Bleach. spoiler[He completely deceived all of Soul Soceity, and then totally owned Hitsugaya, Renji, Ichigo, and Komamura one after another without breaking a sweat.] He has certainly earned my respect as an anime villain.

Aion from Chrno Crusade. A devil, who wants to rid God. Interesting character because he is always sly and has an attitude thatll piss off almost anyone. "Why point the gun at me, you should be pointing at him [God]. he's the real villian here, him and his hipocracy and inflated ego"-Aion. The quote stands out my point. Poor confused ba**ard.

I totally agree with you, but I'd use some spoiler tags for the rest of your explanation. Those are some pretty shocking sequences the first time you see them and I wouldn't want it to be ruined for other new Utena fans. Wink
