Apparently, while Geneon has registered at least one Nanoha-related domain, it seems all the noise they've been making over the past week or so was tied to Higurashi. Has there been any direct information from them regarding Nanoha to-date?

Basically, Geneon recently registered three domain names, which went something to the effect of higurashidvd.com, nanohadvd.com, and marimitedvd.com. One of these shows, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, was just announced, so that's got fans (like me) all getting worked up over the chance that Geneon may also have Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha & Maria-sama ga Miteru, as well.

If Geneon has all three of these shows, adding to it their Rozen Maiden license, they'll earn a LOT of favor from the internet crowd, that's for sure. Four big cult favorites, two of which are long overdue for a license, two of which people hardly expected to ever get a license. Though it would be nice to know just how far their licenses extend. Geneon still hasn't clarified whether or not they have Rozen Maiden Traumend or Ouverture, and there's the little question of the upcoming second season of Higurashi (and assuming they have Nanoha & Marimite, does that include Nanoha A's & StrikerS, or Marimite Haru & the OVA?).

To contrast what Nagisa said, Rozen Maiden, Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni and Magical Lyrical Girl Nanoha are very risky titles; Nanoha and RM are likely so expensive if the internet doesn't carry sales they'll likely incur a huge loss for the company. Higgy itself is a proverbial "shot in the dark"; it's got more negatives against it than positives, but it could be a smash hit. Emphasis on could since I'm in doubt about it.

My question is, why now? Were all of these licenses made in the hope of a coat-tail effect from Haruhi?

So just to make sure, the only information anyone (who doesn't work for Geneon) has regarding a Nanoha or Marimite license are the domains they registered?

yeah, sometime you don't need source and you can still make very accurate educated guess.
based on higurashidvd.com, nanohadvd.com, and marimitedvd.com
people guessed Higurashi just mins after the first clue. There are very high probability that they also got Nanoha and Marimit. I say over 95% chance, that 5% is that somehow they messed up the agreement with the Japanese company. Or what in hell they register those domain names for?

Four domain names, actually. They also have saiunkokudvd.com.

First, Nagisa never said they would be huge sellers, just that it would please a good number of internet fans.

Second, Geneon has done a number of high-risk, low-sales potential titles before. Kamichu!, Koi Kaze, Someday's Dreamers, and others were released by Geneon despite having very low appeal to the casual anime fan. I can't imagine any of them sold very well.

Huh? How are any of these related to Haruhi? They can't ride the coat-tails of something they have no relation to whatsoever.

I meant a contrast to Nagisa's impartial/positive intent, since my post was pessemistic, rather than specific points.

An "alternative anime" kind of show. Haruhi's main selling point is the fanservice and appeal to fetishes, and I know RM and Nanoha to nestle in that category quite nicely (to be most crude, they're "pedo-licious". Ugh). The supporting wind to Haruhi are the specific points of the story, id est, the original plot, Kyon's monologues and interactions which characters, the situations and so on.

That being said, Haruhi is a daring gamble, so for one company to make a gamble people might become more interested in other "unusual" titles released soon afterward.

Oddly enough, Koi Kaze and Someday's Dreamers were two of my earliest anime purchases. I think I got them shortly after expanding beyond the [adult swim] series like Fullmetal Alchemist, and Samurai Champloo. I was a fairly casual fan at that time. I think there was a trailer for Koi Kaze on one of the Champloo DVDs.

Further proof that I am not, nor have I ever been, a member of the Normal People's Party.

I'd say that licensing "unusual" titles has been Geneon's modus operandi for a while now. You don't license something like Koi Kaze unless you're trying to appeal to a very different group than normal. Even some of their more successful titles like R.O.D. the TV are pretty odd.

Of course, that's mostly just my opinion. Either way, I like what Geneon's been licensing and if they'd just sort out there LE insanity and start making bloody art boxes again with regularity, I'd love them more. (I swear, they'd better have a Shana box and a Rozen Maiden box at some point or I WILL be very annoyed. Bad things happen when I'm annoyed. Twisted Evil )

I'll also second Nagisa's statement that Geneon needs to ditch the ambiguity and tell us what they're doing. Having part of a series is better than nothing I suppose, but if they've got everything I start buying without worrying.

Wow...

I don't know what version YOU'RE watching, apparently it was different from mine cause I totally missed it if these were true.

Pardon the cliché, but care to elaborate?

I feel that you completely missed the point of the titles. True Haruhi has some fan service...but it's not the entire POINT of the series. Same with Nanoha..sure if you freeze frame enough and play it frame by frame..you'll notice LOLZ panty shots! but that's also not the point of the entire series. In fact... I missed most of the shot (execpt maybe the transformation which I ended up skipping almost all the time) until people started posting the shots on 4chan.
