I am referring to the Yoroiden Samurai Troopers OAVs' episodes list page. At the time, each episode was first released individually on VHS tapes. The dates I submitted are the official release dates. The other dates associated with each episode, and submitted previously by another person, actually have nothing to do with the releases at all. Those dates, in fact, are used as reference for when events take place within the series itself. This fan site has a timeline for the events of YST, compiled from artbooks, novels and other official publications (as well as fan speculations for the uncertain but assumed dates) which you may refer to.
For instance, in OAV Gaiden, Ryou's birthday party happens at the very beginning, and since the TV series' events end in the spring of 1989, Ryou's birthday, in August, is also in 1989. And in the OAV Kikoutei Densetsu, which chronologically happens after Gaiden, it is summer. Fans assume that this means that it must be the summer of 1990 rather than that of 1989 because Ryou's birthday is in mid-August, and Sunrise has apparently refused to clearly state which year Kikoutei Densetsu takes place in. Message takes place sometime in 1991, but we have no concrete information other than that mentioned in an artbook, which states that Ryou chose to meet up with the other troopers at a particular location because he knew it would be quiet due to it being a holiday. Fans assume that holiday is part of Golden Week. So dates like "1989-08-00" for the first episode of Gaiden are referring to Ryou's official birthdate of August 15th (and his birthday party of August 1989) and have nothing to do with the release dates of the OAVs. Since I can't report them as an error, someone please remove them. |

Checking, I find that you need to enter error reports for the titles, whose data field also contains the erroneous dates. After tonight, I have the next few days off, so I'll try to fix the problem.

Does that mean I don't need to file the error reports after all? Basically all of the dates I didn't submit are mistaken.
Also, I had mentioned on this thread, on page 70, that two new sections should be created for the other two OAVs of Yoroiden Samurai Troopers. Right now, only the single page exists for all three OAVs, which just isn't right. Could someone create the two new pages and I will submit the credits? It isn't a simple fix - if you click the error button next to any of the erroneous dates you'll see that the title information was entered in the same field. Regular editors can't directly edit information so the only way for us to fix it is to delete the whole lot and re-enter; since there was no source given, and I personally am not going to enter anything about a series I've never seen unless I know where it is coming from, it would require sourcing the whole lot.

I thought of resubmitting the whole entry for every episode of every OAV, actually, but I thought it might be redundant and woud give you more work rather than less. Also, if new pages were to be created for the other two OAVs, I wanted to add the information there instead of where it would only need to be deleted in the future.
I own the entire TV series and all OAVs, both on American and Japanese DVD. I know that's not enough to be reliable even though I know the series inside and out, but there is the YST japanese Wikipedia page. More specifically, this is the OAV section. I can submit all this info, but instead of that, could you create two more OAV pages for YST? I'll submit the information there instead, and can use the current OAV page for Gaiden, the first OAV. |

Oh, btw, the Wikipedia page, in the case of Kikoutei Densetsu and Message, only mentions the dates of the first and last releases of each OAV, but Amazon JP is a good reference for the exact release dates of each of the other volumes.

The wrong dates are still there, do you need me to file error reports for them or can they be removed without those reports?

They can be removed with or without the error reports (which only flag that there is a problem—as you have already done—and provide proof). |
