While I'll agree that the arc about the feudal lord struggling with his inner demons (both figuratively and literally!) was the series' high point, the review is a little generous in the overall evaluation. This one was down there with I'm a Noble on the Brink of Ruin and Bogus Skill <<Fruitmaster>> as one of the season's bottomfeeders for me.

I'd be interested in how ANN decides to do these series reviews, what criteria are used, as this show was 4th to 5th from the bottom of 43 shows the whole season according to the readers. Does CR send stats indicating which shows are moderately popular (somehow) so readers might be interested? I for one did the three-episode test on this and dropped it.
By contrast, I completed Noble on the Brink, Fruitmaster, 40-Something Online Shopper and GOAT Alchemist? which were a mere 2-5 steps above this show but were significantly better and more entertaining if you ask me. Now, Fruitmaster did get a review (unexpectedly) but was the only one of the group so far and if it were me, it didn't warrant it. Color me confused...

I mean, CR doesn't really need to send them stats for them to see what's popular. I just popped over to the popular tab and currently Worthless "Appraiser" Class is in the top 10. Fruitmaster is in the top 2 rows as well fwiw. When I see series I didn't hear particularly good things about at the start of the season at top of the popularity tab I get curious if they did ended up being decent or if it's just bad/mediocre shows can often end up being popular. Between seasons is a good time to watch hidden gems and looking at what was popular last season is a good way to see what might be worth checking out so having reviews for those shows seems super worthwhile imo.

although, the CR popularity will not matter in the end. for in japan, this series as well as fruitmaster & noble on the brink were nowhere in the top list in any viewerships.
it is why these series wont be getting a season 2 & got the dreaded "READ THE BOOKS, KIDS!" type of ending, whereas last year, reincarnated as the 7th prince & wistoria wand and sword will be getting a season 2

All of the anime series over the the last several months that have gotten full-series reviews based on streams are ones that either didn't get picked up for weekly episode reviews or dropped in their entirety on a service. In the former case, most likely they were just series that different reviewers happened to be watching anyway and were willing to write about.
ANN has been doing this to some degree for at least as long as the site has done weekly episode reviews.
