You know, I found myself liking that Uchimura was just some guy from start to finish. We get so many, "my lousy sounding skill is actually OP" that it was kind of nice that Uchimura never gets like that. Heck, the guy can't even do magic on his own.
I'll give it a bit of a bonus point for making the ladies extra pretty even though the rest of it is kind of bland.

thats because this season was more or less an intro/prologue to the whole storyline. it gets interesting later on!
but unfortunately, just like with fruitmaster, you will need to buy the source materials to know more!
not to mention that this kind of isekai isnt new. there is also HOW A REALIST HERO REBUILD THE KINGDOM where the MC (souma kazuya) is anything but overpowered!
hell, his living poultergeist can only move things like his master mascot doll. its anything but OP! especially when compared to the former queen of elfredeen (and current mother in law) whose dark magic powers can put future trunks to shame or even the wolf girl tomoe!

I know this is a stereotypical thing to say, but it’s unfortunately true, the best stuff comes after where the anime ends.

Yeah, a shame because it sounded interesting but I stayed long enough to find out it wouldn't be and nope'd out. Guess I didn't miss much...

I don't think it was exceptional or amazing but as far as Isekai go I thought it was overall decent and at least tried to go for something different. The cast were solid, the production values were not the worst, and there was some interesting stuff.
I also think Uchimura is an effective protagonist thanks to his background, how he applies it, and his enthusiasm to put himself to work for the benefit of the kingdom. Plus Yuki Ono's vocal performance.
Though I feel like the show was at its strongest whenever Ulmandra was around and actively involved in the plot. Not only because she was Best Girl but just that she made things more lively and fun, even though her constant misunderstandings over her relationship with Uchimura and how he doesn't respond to her feelings became less funny and more sad over time.
Also, the whole concept of a mind palace izakaya is pretty cool.

I hate how often this happens.

I guess I am the only one who didn't care for ulmanda. She just comes off as another annoying tsundere who snaps at our hapless hero over any little thing.
And this adaptation suffers the same fate as most adaptations. That fate being is that the source material is usually better and further ahead while the anime exists just to promote said source material. A lot of anime are like this

The intro sounded like Kirby's victory dance. So that was always a nice moment of cheer for me while watching this show.

I guess she reacts like a tsundere in terms of getting violent or ticked off when Uchimura is getting chummy with another woman, though in general she's pretty clear about her romantic intentions towards him and just misunderstands/gets frustrated by his denseness.

Highly disagree with this negative review. The show was fun and interesting. The Demon King was a cool caring boss and the ways issues were solved using Dennosuke's skills were pretty interesting and unique.

Perhaps it's because I am a 60 year old manager, but I found the series delightful in an understated way. I really appreciated its consistency and refusal to go for cheap laughs (though I laughed a lot) and its discussion of the workplace abuse the hero received in the real world really hit home. I loved the little suspense/twist ending. I was rooting for him all the way and certainly understood how he developed his low self esteem. It felt empowering to watch an anime wish fulfilment fantasy about "people like me." My main reservation was that the management lessons were too obviously "educational" and didactic. As in A Realist Hero, or Spice and Wolf, you could imagine the series being shown in an introductory class on personnel management in a high school or junior college. But the sweetly conventional fantasy setting makes the lessons easy and fun to digest. And many of the lessons are not so obvious until you face that particular situation yourself. Space Brothers remains the greatest anime teaching management techniques but I'd happily watch another season of Headhunted.
