I spent some time with the JP release of the game and have not gone back. The collectibles and unlocks were not enough to keep me interested. As for the International release, the removal of the original Macross Cast was a non starter for me. For those that want the original cast content the JP release has it on the disc and no DLC is required.

Imagine having to leave out the protagonist and idol that kickstarted your entire franchise just because of licensing issues.

Yeah, without the original cast it is a hollow series. But that may not be the same for those of you who started later.
Though the lack luster reviews here are another reason to not partake. Just curious, does it have cutscene animation story, much like what StarCraft did? or is it that two dimensional, everyone is just standing around talking thing? |

As much as I love Macross, I'll be needing to wait for a (steep) discount before biting the bullet on this one.
Such a shame Artdink stopped making Macross games after (the fantastic) Macross 30. I'd've much rather seen one of their flight combat games be our first localization here, but oh well. |
