Wow, it's been many years since I last played Onimusha 2 on my PS2 long ago. I'm kind of psyched to see this game getting a remastered re-release and now being available not only on PS4, but also on Xbox and Switch. I hope this upcoming re-release comes with the Japanese voice track (something the US PS2 release didn't have back then).

Cool, now everyone stop pretending CAPCOM is still the same as it was when Inafune was around just because ONE game doesn't get attention for a few years. And unlike most of y'all, I actually played and OWN the original Onimusha games

Yay now I can finally play this game after leapfrogging into the series with 3.

According to a reliable source, this was done to hype up the new game. It was originally planned around the time Onimusha 1's remaster was coming out but that game didn't sell as much as hoped so it was cancelled.
The fact that the new Onimusha game was listed in the 2020 leak means that Capcom going back to 2 again was a recent move.

Ironically 2 was the last entry I owned but I never did 100% after the second playthrough so it might change this time.
From what I've seen elsewhere, Onimusha 3 was a popular one so here's hoping 2 does better than 1 did.

I prefer Capcom under Inafune than I do now to be honest. But I'm not all that interested in remakes and remasters much. Plus I like the pre-2010 Capcom output more than what they're doing now.

Pre 2010 Capcom was…..janky to say the least. Yeah they had games like Resident Evil 4, Devil May Cry 3, and the Viewtiful Joe duology. But they also had the Bionic Commamdo reboot, Megaman X6 & X7, Devil May Cry 2, PN03, Auto Modellista, Resident Evil Gaiden and of bunch of other weird titles that most people have never heard about or largely forgotten.
