Nobody’s going to consider it a conflict of interests if you link to Justin’s old “Buried Treasure” column on Nobody’s Boy Remi: animenewsnetwork.com/buried-treasure/2008-08-14/nobody-boy-remi

God, I've been waiting for a chance to own this series for years, ever since ANN first streamed this back in 2010! This is one of my favorite anime of all time (as is the 1997 WMT version, flaws and all), and I'm so glad I can own it when it comes out! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Oh wow, that's a unexpected license that I didn't think AnimeEigo would picked up, I thought Discotek would've gotten that series, but I guess this is OK.

That Buried Treasure article is from 2008, I don't think that's going to be a big deal or be considered as a conflict of interest in my eyes. Laughing

There's literally only one person who would ever license Remi & it's the same exact guy who managed to convince iaTV to license it back in the day: Justin Sevakis. Since Justin now owns AnimEigo it was only natural that AE would license it, since now Justin has no one to question him wanting to license a title like this.

The inclusion of the French dub is a nice touch, too.

I recently became a huge Osamu Dezaki fan thanks to watching the wonderful Black Jack OVAs he directed. In other words, I'm very pumped for this.

If it wants to sell it needs the Latin American dub in it.

I'm kinda surprised at this. Although Justin Sevakis and a few others liked this series,I'm still amazed that "Nobody's Boy Remi'" is getting licensed by AnimEgo. Look,I read the article invalidname linked to and it made it quite clear that it's one of the most depressing anime out there. Yeah,it's the type of show that makes "Angela's Ashes" and "Schindler's List" seem like old-time Disney movies.
In a lot of ways,it doesn't surprise me that this show isn't going to have an English dub. This sort of anime would have many English voice actors on antidepressants or Prozac just to get through it. If Mr. Sevakis' article is to be believed, than this show is incredibly grim, and I think we don't need this in this country right now. We need something fun, comedic, and uplifting, not a downer like "Nobody's Boy Remi." From my viewpoint,I wouldn't want to sit through it. It's too morose for me to even consider getting this thing, even if it had an English dub.

While AnimEigo has some region-locked titles, there are more countries and audience than just your country in the world, after all it does include the French dub. And just because YOU think it doesn't have a willing audience doesn't make it so, even just by going by the replies in this very thread above.

I can't see "Remi sans Famille" as a downer like "Grave of the fireflies" or "A dog of Flanders". It alternates between sad moments and meaningful encounters. For me the message would be "Life prevails above all".

If you're not a fan of shows like Remi, that's fine, just don't watch it. There are plenty of comedic and uplifting shows out there you can watch. But there is value to be had in stuff that's more sad and melancholic, and just because you don't want to watch sad stuff isn't an excuse to act like sad shows by themselves are bad.

Respectfully... No.

Nobody's Boy Remi is an absolutely fantastic show from a talented team and a top tier director. It's about overcoming terrible losses despite everything the world throws at you and not losing yourself along the way. There's a reason so many people in this thread are excited to finally own a show from 46 years ago. It's good.

It's a miracle we're getting it after all this time, and I couldn't possibly be more excited for this release. Day 1 purchase.
