I’m kinda sad about this being split-cour, but I guess it’ll give the animators more time to cook up some hopefully excellent action scenes.

Sadly the animation looks underwhelming. The story in this series just isn't at the forefront, the action and choreography are the main draw. So nailing the fights should have been the main priority, but there's just too much emphasis on limited movement and still frames with speed lines.

Shueisha will pay for handing this series to TMS. This kind of animation may be good for another battle shonen, but not for Sakamoto.
Sakamoto Days deserves better treatment, animation, and direction. We will be waiting for Sakamoto Days Anime Remake in 2040.

Looks fun! Though I'm slightly concerned as to whether they can really do the action scenes justice.

Well I’m sorry not every anime can be Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man, or Demon Slayer levels of quality, but guess what? I think it still looks good, there’s small subtle details in the motions, stylized bits here and there, and the fight scenes, in my opinion, looks pretty damn smooth. “Buh, buh there’s speed lines” so?
Maybe the animation team chose to put those in to emulate the manga, which did have speed lines to emphasize the, well speed and impact of the action. Could it be a budgetary thing? Yes. Could it be a stylistic choice? Also yes. You know there’s good anime not made by Mappa or Ufotable right?
Frankly, I’d rather watch dozens of shows of this quality, over whatever the hell they did to Tower of God any day of the week.

Could have saved the trouble of making an account if your intention was making baseless assumptions. Nowhere did I claim it should be on the level of the aforementioned shows. The show looks average at best, maybe slightly above average if I have to be generous. However it's praised as the next big battle shonen, average isn't enough. If you genuinely think the animation looks "smooth", then good for you, but I and others expected more. The show clearly lacks notable action animators. The art direction, storyboarding and compositing are also nothing to write home about. So I have my doubts that the limited action animation is a choice.
If you're feeling good because it's better than Tower of God then that just tells how much of low bar people have.

Instead of watching Demon Slayer and JJK on repeat some people should try watching more anime each season and they would realize this animation is not "bad". Looks like a fun show.

I can understand the concern that it looks a little stiff which, when this series is known for it's fast-paced and kinetic action sequences, might be an issue.
