Kinda surprised Netflix didn’t nab it, but this works for me.

Look like Amazon is trying to make a comeback in the anime market.

they really fumbled the theatrical release for this. We had 2 screenings and that was it. Small rooms too...like 30 seats each. Friends confirmed the same for other cities. I suspect only major coastal cities had good showings. I expected this kind of treatment in the early 00s but not in the 2020s. I'm happy I'll be able to watch it soon but it would've been better to be able to see it in theaters

I think GKIDS were thrown off by the popularity of this one. They did scramble to add additional showings in my area.

I'd say over half of their theatrical releases are limited in scale and are only in theaters for one or two days. Perhaps they didn't realize that Look Back would be in high demand despite how good it is due to being short and not part of a major franchise or from a well-known director.

That sucks. From the Bay Area, and I can confirm that we had a decent number of showings. Originally, I thought it was a limited two-night event deal. But after the initial set more or less sold out, Cinemark theaters added a ton of showings. And I just checked, and it is actually still in theaters for us.

I'm glad this is at least getting a BD release because no one is signing up to Amazon just to watch this who doesn't already have Amazon.

This will be showing on limited selected cinemas here in Australia on 24th of October. Since the anime will be on Prime 2 weeks later, I guess I'll just wait for it to be available on streaming in 2 weeks time rather than going to the cinemas after work to watch this.

As long as it still gets submitted for Oscar consideration, I don't care.

Well, look on the Brightside. It can always end up on another service later on. It won't be exclusive to Amazon forever.

It's more like they dip their toe into it ever couple of years. Last time they did the Evangelion Rebuild movies.
