The SS Blue balloon always seemed kind of dated considering that it's no longer his strongest form, and hasn't been for about five years now.

Rather than keep up with the franchise's power creep, it makes sense for Toei to just give us a balloon featuring "standard" Goku. It's a nicer design than the old balloon, too. I like how he looks like he's saluting the crowd.

Goku is not a hero. The late Akira Toriyama stated this himself and they even had Goku state it in Super.
