I wonder what romcoms would have been out when Sumippe was a teen...Toradora?

So there was an actual Russian language supervisor. I know some have had choice words about Sumippe's Russian delivery, which she's aware of, but it does seem like there was a lot of thought put into it.

I found out about the supervisor part from one of the special manga chapters released for the manga version of this series. it had some interesting bits about the anime's voice recording process as well as the author's thoughts during the process.

As a native speaker I can confirm that they had someone fully fluent give the Russian bits an editing pass. And the Russian text makes sense and is written with much better cursive than mine.

While Sumipe's Russian is heavily accented (probably still better than my Japanese, though), it's at least intelligible. You can tell she understands what she's trying to say. The rest of the cast was going by syllables, and I'd be completely lost if not for the subtitles.
