Question about the movie: Did it adapt the chapter where the teacher lets all the kids swim in the pool naked? I didn't like that chapter of the book, so I'm wondering if it's in the movie or not.

I remember my mother reading Totto-chan to me when I was 11-12; I enjoyed it so much I bought the book again when I was older (I still desperately want to attend school in a decommissioned train carriage). That the movie got such a glowing review makes me want to watch it even more!

I hope this can be picked up for an English release, it looks like an interesting film and I think the art style is cute.

It is in the movie but it is 1) mostly a surrealist scene (think mermaids, fish, and a more abstract art style) and 2) clearly done to impart the message that no one should be embarrassed by their own body.

Ahh, okay then. That makes it much better.

I really hope someone brings this movie over here. Hey, GKids or Eleven Arts, this movie has one of your names on it!!

I don't remember reading the ANN review when it was first put online, but chose this first on the in-flight entertainment on Singapore Airlines today.

A beautiful movie.
