Red Cat Ramen (TV) Source: Manga (ongoing @ 8 volumes by Angyaman) Demographic: Shounen Animation Studio: E&H Studios Genres: comedy, drama, slice of life Themes: anthropomorphs, cats, cooking, gourmet, segments, workplace Plot Summary: Meet Tamako, who's found her way into an interview at a ramen shop run solely by cats. When the feline manager asks if she likes cats, Tamako admits that she's actually more of a dog person—only to be hired on the spot. But her job description isn't quite what she expects. Rather than serving ramen, she's now a dedicated cat caretaker. Air Date & Platform: July 4, 2024 (Thursday) Available on: Crunchyroll Episode Count / Runtime: 12 episodes ---------------------------------- I actually meant to make a thread for this, but missed it. Kenjiro Tsuda plays the boss cat (the one with the headband)! Last edited by Tony K. on Sat Sep 21, 2024 8:43 pm; edited 2 times in total |

Nothing profound here, but a pleasant enough way to spend 23 minutes a week.
Did something get lost in translation in the final episode - why would a lawyer be needed to make someone a full-time employee? Was it actually the cats making Yashiro a part-owner in the business? |

I don't think they came out and said for sure what the lawyer guy was doing in terms of paperwork. But I have a feeling it was something way more than just making her a full-time employee. Knowing Sasaki's backstory and seeing how much chemistry the crew built with Yashiro over the season, it's probably something we'll either find out in (hopefully) subsequent seasons, or maybe it's already been revealed in the manga (which is still ongoing).
At any rate, although the animation was iffy, the art was occasionally nice, the OP and ED were super catchy, the main theme in the score was very upbeat, and I felt the voice acting and characterizations were A-grade level. It's a quirky, relaxing, and fun slice-of-life title, and I wholeheartedly recommend this for people who like that genre. I'm definitely not a cat person, but even this made me appreciate them more, even if they can't talk in real life . |
