That's unfortunate, but with how awful the sales are it wasn't long for this world

MamaYuyu last week and now this, everything's getting axed. It's a shame, Two on Ice seemed to be finally hitting its stride but too late to save it. Really liked MamaYuyu too so it's a double blow for me. With no knowledge of sales and only from stuff I'm still reading, I'm guessing it will be Shadow Eliminators next (very generic), Wild Strawberry (does nothing interesting with its concept) and maybe Green Green Greens (actually like it but golf is not interesting to most people). Dear Anemone still has some time to prove itself but it doesn't seem that great to me at the moment. Shojo Null seems like it's going towards its endgame but I'm not really sure, it's an odd series.

Wild Strawberry and Shojo Null are Jump+ (though Wild Strawberry is sure to get an axe soon, it hanging on the thread for awhile), but yeah - Shadow Eliminators and Green Green Greens will likely be next on the batch, with Super Psychic Policeman Chojo most likely join them too.

Another series should end next week, though it won't be replaced by the third new series from this batch until after the Golden Week double week issue. Shadow Eliminators seems to be next since it's been a mess from the start, and seems to be rushing toward a conclusion.

I thought it was such a shame,
Two on Ice had a great premise and a great artstyle. It felt like there was more stories to tell and even the final chapter itself wasn't that satisfying.
It's a shame these unique manga aren't popular enough with main audiences

Guess you could say it was on…thin ice.

Two on Ice was really something else. I can't remember the last time I read anything like it. The world of competitive ice-skating was really something new for me too. I know I'm shilling, but I actually understand why it got axed.

Two on ice did nothing "wrong", as in muddled plot, uninteresting characters… & it had the support from famous ice skaters, as ice skating is HUGE in Japan. But simply there is no place for an ice skate manga in WSJ -as Blue Box rules over the sport+romance niche and the golf series —Green Green Greens(?)– has the "sport hugely popular in Japan, not so much among Jump readers" niche-.
But sales were horrible from the first volume, and when MamaYuyu was cancelled -a series with better sales-, the end was near.

Honestly, despite the pacing issues(the story started off slow at first, then timeskipped near the end), it was a pleasant read. The ML and FL had good chemistry together, although there wasn't any romance. It deserved better.

That's too bad. I'm always down for more manga/anime about figure skating, but it seems a series like this one didn't stand much of a chance in Shonen Jump.
