Agree that this is an under-appreciated title. It was fun and had both good fan service and some interesting twists towards the end. Was not aware the manga-ka was one of the creators of To Love-Ru, but that's not surprising, since its fan service sensibilities are very similar.

Thank you for review; I will be checking it out. Censored and uncensored both sound worthy...

I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that there'll be an option on the blu-ray to watch the episodes with or without the floating Shirogane heads.
(And if they weren't thinking that way, they should.)

It's a fun show that I think was really held back by the censorship.

I'm looking forward to giving this one a try once the BDs are out.

... I have to admit that this series has always been better than it seems at first glance.

The main creator if you wish, as he dates all the way back to black cat ( ignoring one shots) and so do a lot of his character motifs. Black cat itself was popular enough to get an anime adaptation, tho because it was in the early 2ks ( and by (iirc) gonzo to boot) it went of the rails pretty hard.

Speaking as a trans person, I found the series much better than I was expecting it to be, given what I recall of To-Love-Ru. While it seems to be getting more common for series that use the "gender bender" trope, I've gotten used to it being played for nothing more than gags, even in series where it's the main focus.
Like I mean... in a sense, I'll still take what I can get (historically speaking), but again... this one was better than expected for me.
FWIW, I did read most of the manga, then dropped off for a while and skipped ahead to the last few chapters 'cause I'm lazy.

Could you go into more detail about why? As a non-trans person, I didn't notice any significant difference between how the gender change is handled here compared to, say, Rito's occasional changes in TLR, so I'm curious about what you may be seeing that I'm not.

I agree this story is deeper than the panty shots etc. let us think af first.
Pity we won't ever had a 2nd season to watch how Matsuri and Suzu ended in a romantic relationship -as girls-.

Being a huge fan of Kenatro Yabuki's work, especially his improved excellent art on the To Love-Ru sequel To Love-Ru Darkness I watched Ayakashi Triangle before buying the manga. I'm not a fan of Gender Switch manga/anime, but went into this curious because of the mangaka and I really, really enjoyed it, especially the vocal work of Miyu Tomita as the female Matsuri. Even the annoying Shirogane was fun who was perfect as a character whose personality and motivation was hard to pin down. Do you like or hate him? I like ambiguous characters. It did end on a very high note and would love a sequel. It was in the top tier for ecchi anime last year and would be a buy if they come out with an uncensored Blu-ray .

This is contrary to what Japanese fans and many TLR fans thought. And they bought all volumes. No one in the west really watched this show
I am surprised this series has any positive reception at all. Everyone saw this as Yabuki's most disappointing series yet. Especially since this is first anime after almost 10 years, only for it to get cancelled after 1 cours. Especially since Yabuki chose to end TLR throwing Hasemi under the bus. When the creators pulled the plug on the Darling in the Franxx manga, we got this.
If you haven't seen TLR, you might give this a more positive reception due to how cute the designs are. But there is a severe downgrade for TLR fans. The characters were not as likeable as TLR, not as erotic, funny.
This show did much much worse than I even imagined. I thought it would at least get a 2nd cours but Aniplex pulled the plug quick. It had a ton of figure announcements. In addition Yabuki is an extremely famous mangaka often referred to as the ecchi god. No one can beat him drawing gorgeous art of anime girls. He gets tens of thousand of likes on his art on twitter. TLR has been dead since 2017 yet is still getting figures.
