Quote: | The new Super Mario Bros. Wonder game for Switch, which launched on October 20, has sold over 10.70 million units. |
Ehm, the number is way off - Nintendo reported that SMB Wonder sold 11.96 million units during that time.

Pokémon Scarlet/Pokémon Violet: 24.36 million copies |
Crazy to think that Gens 8 and 9 are the second and third best selling Pokémon generations now. (ignoring the digital sales for Gold and Silver)

Nah, not as much considering they are available on the console that surpassed all-time GB and GBC sales combined over a year ago - and still riding high on the 8th year of it's life.

I mean, the DS still sold more than the Switch currently, but DP and BW both failed to even clear 20 million. I guess it's just a bit hard to gauge the difference in the power of the Pokémon brand overall since between the DS years and now.

It's not just Pokemon, but also a lot of Nintendo brands in general during the years of DS times to now when it come to Switch.
Animal Crossing was mildy successful series, but New Horizons is the literal powerhouse that sold nearly 45 million copies - nearly as much as both Sw/Sh and Sc/Vi combined.
The Legend of Zelda never had any game since it's existence that passed 10 millions of lifetime sales (at least on the single platform alone, without HD remaster rereleases). Switch now got TWO Zelda games which passed the 20 million milestone.
Even Mario - the most recognizable brand of Nin - went to the crazy numbers that they only had during the peak, with MK8DX passed the MK Wii numbers nearly twice just on Switch alone, Super Mario Party being the most successful MP game ever, and Oddysey being the most successful 3D platformer Mario game. Even the 2D platformers doing really great even if it nowhere near the times of New Super Mario Bros on DS or Wii, bu still printing money fast.

Like Jean-Karlo was saying on Twitter, those unredacted e-mails from Phil Spencer about Nintendo's future being off its own hardware are looking more and more hilarious as time goes on. It's not a matter of if it's going to surpass the PS2, it's a matter of when

Especially with all those rumors that are circulating right now about Xbox releasng some of their exclusive games on PlayStation and Nintendo. To be fair, I don't think Microsoft will leave the console business... yet, but seeing all those rumors about Xbox right now, it makes Phil's e-mails even funnier
