What's the point of launching the global version in February if it'll shut down in May?

Previously, I’ve joked that ANN could save themselves some time by writing the shutdown article for a mobile game at the same time it writes about the game’s launch, and filing it away for later. But I never imagined we’d get to do launch and shutdown in the same article. Well done, Bushiroad.

Apparently the entire LL fandom was not so keen on this game and it flopped in Japan after people saw it was a cashgrab that had no soul :/

The fact they made us wait so LONG for global when that is absolutely not the same standard as a decade ago when SIF 1 launched, just to have it be a fart in the bath that stinks of “we were contractually obligated to at least release it, enjoy legally mandatory f2p for three months.” What a joke…

Besides the obvious cashgrab aspect, it's likely a contractual obligation kind of deal. They had to deliver a global version, which had already been delayed, but with SIF2 being a flop and EOSing in March in Japan, they basically had to push... whatever this is.

"Funniest" part is that the 1st game was still doing OK when they shut it down.

Even if it seems pointless to release, keep in mind that a team of people worked for months to years on the global localization. If I were them, even if it's for a short time, I feel like I would want people to see the results of my hard work rather than it be discarded without ever having seen the light of day.

Yeah, this smack of "we're legally obligated to release this."

I do like the fact that someone on the reddit group proposed that the only thing to do now was to become school idols in order to save the game from being shut down.
