I've read the spoilers for this one and while I adored Kizuna even though it came with it's own retcon, I can't help but be nervous about this movie does as it seems to go back and change/reframe basically the entire series while Kizuna just added a bit to the end. It just sounds like really widesweeping changes that I'm not sure are necessary. The really suprising this is between Kizuna's ending and what I've read of The Beginning's it feels like Toei closing the book on Digimon Adventure rather than expanding the story to be told through more seasons or stories, which if nothing else, should please some people.
The 02 group got screwed so incredibly badly in Tri that I'm still glad to see them back for one more go, even if It's one that will likely be even more controversial than Kizuna.

Interesting. So Megumi Ogata also takes over Digimon (not only the voice, even the design looks like a child Ogata with bleached hair included). Still, I wonder if the fanservice of evolutions includes the classic songs but remixed. Cos that really hyped me up as a kid. Then again, one of the singers passed away during the release of Tri. Still, of all Digimons it kinda annoyed that Imperialdramon had a cool design as Mazinger but the budget didn't really let him move but instead just show him lasers from his hand

Can anyone spoil the retcons for me? I'm curious about this reframing thing.

Honestly, it seems Digimon has three producers or something considering Taichi's final movie, Kizuna, premiered the same year the reboot of Adventure started with a simpler Taichi as protagonist. It's like Toei has no idea where to go with the franchise and Taguchi decided to make another sequel movie after ending season 2 of the final arc of Bleach

I haven't read any leaks, so take this vague spoiler with a big grain of salt, but from what I understand, the reason why everyone in the world got a digimon like was shown in the 02 epilogue is attributed to the events of the film, thus potentially retconning previous lore that suggested everyone getting partners was a result of Homeostasis and some kind of human evolution soul-linking stuff. It's hard to tell without having seen the film for myself yet, but it still seems possible that both the old lore and new lore are compatible with each other. It just requires making assumptions about how the lore works that has never been officially explored before. As in, we can only speculate how the lore actually works now, whereas it was pretty clear beforehand.
I don't think it's a huge deal overall, but I wouldn't downplay anyone's feelings if this one point ruins the movie for them. Adventure in general is one of the most lore-heavy parts of the franchise, and that is a huge draw for some people who like to lore-dive. Tri was already a lore mess with an open-ended cliffhanger than has yet to be concluded, and Kizuna also left a gap in events that this new movie supposedly does not fill in, meaning those looking for answers in this film will find none of their questions answered and more questions that now need answeringーa frustrating experience, for sure.

On top of what was mentioned above, Lui was the first Digidestined specifically because Ukkomon granted him a wish for a friend, and that wish resonated into other kids also becoming Digidestined as well. So at the very least it sounds like comparatively underwhelming compared to the lore we already had, even if that lore was somewhat vague.

Tri was so full of mistakes and retcons that would make a Naruto fan scream.
The movie having 1 or 2 it's nothing at this point.

Always thought it was weird how this Davis guy was the lead in 02 when T.K. and Kari were the only two to be on this new team from 01. Always felt like it's them who should have been the leads.

Ukkomon created the Digivices and is responsible for the initial bonds between Digidestined and Digimon.

This movie was entertaining and flabbergasting simultaneously. When it was epic, it was great. The storytelling, wowzers. The creators of Digimon must be going through their horror pase still; it's as if Ghost Game wasn't enough. They had to have someone tear their eye out for shock value. How riveting. I will say it was an okay film.
