It was at least nice to see the slow-burn romance get an actual resolution in the finale, complete with bringing back the season 1 OP!

Yeah, it was a bit odd that season 2 was more about romance. Even that aspect didn't have any real tension since Albert and Sei obviously were in love with each other, and despite some of the nobles thinking there may be a chance, any of the would-be contenders already knew this and weren't about to interfere. I think the marriage aspect was more about internal politics since a foreign nation, with potentially hostile intent, would probably either kidnap or assassinate Sei, which is why they go out of their way to deceive the foreign prince.

"Cozy" is also the word I would use to summarize this season. As low-key as this season was, and despite how it mostly sidelined certain characters, it still ended on its strongest possible (and most satisfying!) note.

Always welcome details like these (which I don't always see), as someone who can frequently lag behind actually watching adaptations in favor of the source material. The idea of political machinations and even a developing romance subplot, playing second-fiddle in service of Sei exercising her own autonomy in a very different world -- up until the latter comes to a head on her own terms, sounds like it could be fun reading. The "person first, Saint second" aspect also reminds me of the recently aired Shiro Seijo, particularly given that show's own glacially conclusive answer to what our two leads mean to each other, as life happens ambiently as many SOL series are wont to do. Even if that one is much more of a "vibes" series, that throughline being poked at through every bit of scared inquisitiveness, what the embarrassment means inside, and especially every meaningful fluffy little talk, did make for a softly comfortable watch. And by every account I've looked at, The Saint's Magic Power is Omnipotent seems far busier even outside of the political happenings. Worth the time reading this. |

Curiously season 1 seemed to be implying that a saints power would run dry after their romance has run its course, that the saints power was her pure maidenly feelings. As the elderly lady with possibly inferences to being a previous saint or at least being an associate of a previous saint seemed to be guiding Sei towards that conclusion.
At least the golden spells aspect being tied to her romance. As opposed to her bonus, which seemed to be more just part of her even before her romance. But it did not really become a factor at all in the remaining story. |

The novels for Saint are quite popular in Japan; and was listed as one of Kadokawa's top 10 bestselling titles. https://forums.animesuki.com/showpost.php?p=6501687&postcount=120 There is a chance Kadokawa could commission another new season once the author releases enough volumes, much like how future anime adaptations of Bungou Stray Dogs might await more manga material to be made. |

Yeah nothing like that was hinted in season 1, I think you need to watch it again. Her feeling yes. maidenly feelings? No idea where you even came up with that.
The end of LN 8 is 100% going to be the end of animation. spoiler[Volume 9 takes the entire thing to another country with basically nothing but political maneuvering about trying to find the source of the panacea. ] While that might end up being a good story, it will never get animated because: Season 2 took it to the end of LN volume 8. LN volume 9 released in March 2023 in japan and is just recently available on Amazon. https://ncode.syosetu.com/n8139dg/ Also, the WN is barely moving, with only 9 releases this year, only one of which are in the last 6 months. Chapter 150 of the WN has the same name as the end chapter (less extras) of volume 9. There are only 159 chapters of the WN in total. So there will be no more anime anytime soon. Additionally, by there time there is enough material, it will be unlikely that there is enough money to be made from such an old, by that time, property. |

The review seems fair. All of the potential romantic interests had basically settled into other roles (mentor, magic teacher, older brother/boss) by the end of the first season. It was pretty obvious from the beginning who she'd be paired with anyway so it wasn't exactly a mystery. I do wonder whatever happened to the whole courtship ritual? They were never officially an item, there was just a lot of maneuvering on Albert's part to get her to meet his family and see their region. But it was only days earlier that everyone was so sure they weren't together and there was that big rumor about Sei being with Yuri. And then, BANG, proposal and lots of thoughtful nodding from everyone. I guess the parents liked the cabbage rolls, we never actually saw their reaction but they seemed to have given their blessing.
And can I just point out Sei's total lack of respect for Jude? The guy is always helping her out, always has her back, always covering for her and she thinks so little of him that she's in utter shock when she realizes he can probably ride a horse. What did Jude do to deserve such disrespect? Poor guy doesn't even know his junior thinks so little of him. Emerje |

I assume the whole family rapidly changing perspective comes from doing 5-6 volumes in one season. Well I do not know where season 1 finished but Rebbecca said we stopped on volume 6 of 7. It might of been a good idea to do them quickly so the romance actually evolves over the season.
