This is a good arc, one of the manga's best if not the best, and after season 1 I'm very excited to see how the anime team will pull it off.

If they keep doing 3 chapters per episode like in season 1, the season would end spoiler[around chapter 75-80 depending on how many episodes there are. Chapter 80 is the end of the music video arc and probably the most suitable place to end the season - it would mirror the end of season 1 too, with Ruby's resolve to find the killer highlighted similarly to Aqua's was. Although, if they don't manage to get enough episodes and want to end on a really cruel cliffhanger, they could end it at chapter 77 too : D ]

Starting the second season with the 2.5D Stage Play arc, one of the best (if not the best) story arcs of the series.

It honestly would have been weird for it to not air in 2024. My dream scenarion would be 2 consecutive cours starting in late June or the start of July. The producers have to strike while the iron is hot.

Tokyo Blade let's go!

Probably one of the Mangas strongest arcs

Funny thing is that I read a lot of people hating Tokyo Blade arc, but it is probably my favourite so far.

They'll probably won't go 2-cour for the new season as the current manga arc is not far away and it is really long and may be the last one.

Yeah, I saw one online poll (for all those are worth) that put that arc as easily the most popular.

I highly doubt they're going for two-cour, even aside from the fact that S1's production was already straining at the seams by the end. One cour will get them to an excellent stopping point, assuming they get 13 episodes and manage to squeeze one extra chapter in somewhere -- maybe split between two episodes? I never did figure out where a good point for that would be, though.

If they stick strictly to three chapters an episode for at least the first four, that means episode 4 would cover chapters 50-52, which seems just about perfect. 53-55 for ep5 and 56-58 for ep6 would also work great. After that? Not sure, but chapter 77 would make a good ending for the penultimate episode, leaving 78-80 for the finale. That plan would mean having to fit the extra chapter somewhere in the span of episodes 7 to 12, and I guess the contenders for what would be the "extra chapter" would be… 62, 65, 68, 71, or 74.

(Though looking at some of the chapters here, if they're following this plan, it'd mean following the end of chapter 72 with chapter 73 in the same episode, no matter what, which would be kinda wild. Maybe they could rearrange things?)

Tokyo Blade reminds me a bit of Akasakas Ice Kaguya arc in that it was a bit divisive while it was coming out, but people warmed up to it once it was all out. It was also the first sign that Akasaka was willing to take looooooong detors away from the murder plot; so I think it initially rubbed people the wrong way.

Kana vs long-haired Akane, with Aqua caught in the middle. I can't wait!

Having watched the first season, I was genuinely impressed by how the series melded the dramatic world of idols with a touch of the extraordinary. The narrative, character development, and unique storyline make it a standout anime. I can't wait for the new season.

I'm surprised to it took them some time to announce a season. Was it that hard to animate or they feared getting caught up with the source material?

S2 was confirmed immediately as S1 ended. This is only the release window reveal.
