I've only play Wonder, TOTK, and RE4R so I'd go for Mario Wonder as GOTY out of those choices, but my personal favorite this year was SO2 R but SO2 is my favorite game ever so I'm bias. But I like how it added a bunch of stuff into it and expanded on the game compared to most remakes that seem to remove stuff instead making it one of those rare remakes that actually replace the original so I applaud it for that accomplishment.

Surprising not to see Honkai: Star Rail for any category

And Nocturne for best adaptation? Was there literally no other candidate this year?

It's running for Best Mobile game.

Overall, good list and with some pretty strong contenders in Zelda, Baldur's Gate and Allan Wake. Still, I'm betting on Baldur's Gate 3 taking the year.

This year would have been really good for a "Best Horror" category.
Also, while I voted for RE4 for GOTY (it was my favorite out of those nominated that I actually played; I haven't played Alan Wake 2, Spider-Man 2 and Baldur's Gate yet) I feel like there would have been better choices to put in its spot, including Final Fantasy XVI and/or maybe even Armored Core, which I haven't played yet either but it seems really really good for what it is.
FFXVI would have easily gotten my vote.

Though, let's be real, Zelda is probably gonna win, if BOTW's track record is anything to go by.

Armored Core is way too niche to be considered GOTY for a mainstream award show.
The lack of 16 is kind of an odd snub, though. Maybe it was a bit too Japanese compared to Nintendo games and Resident Evil which are a safer pick for a western award show. I don't really know what I would pick though. Don't know anything about Alan Wake (didn't it just come out?), didn't like Spider-Man, haven't play BG, never cared for Breath of the Wild so I never played TOTK, Mario Wonder was fun, RE4 is a remake... I don't particularl care for any of these selections. I guess TOTK since everyone and their mom loved it?

Baldur's Gate 3 is going to win. It's not my favourite, but it will most likely win.

I am also glad that Hi-Fi rush has gotten many nominations, the game is great.

I haven't yet bought the Star Ocean: The Second Story remake but Star Ocean: the Divine Force (SO6) is the only "new" game I bought all year (partially because the most recent game-playing device that I have is still a PS4, which is really only getting a handful of new games anymore).

Star Ocean: The Divine Force came out on October 27th, 2022. I'm not 100% sure when the cut-off date for a game to count for the Game Awards is (is it the end of October?), so I'm not sure whether that means that Star Ocean: The Divine Force was snubbed for this year's awards or last year's awards.

Final Fantasy XVI too Japanese? I mean, technically it was made in Japan, but Square made the game with a more Western focus than previous FF games, especially considering the fact the game's dialogue was recorded in English first and then it was dubbed into Japanese and other languages, and the developers' citing Game of Thrones as an influence for the games' look. I haven't played the game, but despite it selling quite well according to Square, though they didn't provide an update in their last fiscal report, I haven't heard people talking a lot about the game after it came about outside of gaming and RPG enthusiast forums, I don't think it clicked with a more wide audience compared to other games from this year.
I think Baldur's Gate 3 is going to going the award for Best Game, though perhaps Tears of the Kingdom will manage to take the award, it could be a repeat of the 2018 Awards in which God of War won, despite many people believing RDR2 was the sure winner
BTW, it's nice seeing Mario Wonder nominated for Best Game, this year was truly an incredible one for the Mario franchise

There were plenty. It's a bit odd how Five Nights at Freddy's wasn't nominated given how massively successful and popular it was, even beating out the Mario movie's debut. Although I could hazard a couple guesses why it was snubbed. I did chuckle how they describe the category as "faithfully and authentically adapts a video game to another entertainment medium" and have Nocturne there though. Laughing

Another possibility is that Five Nights at Freddy's will be nominated for "Best Adaptation" next year. It was released on October 27th and I'm not sure when the cut-off date for eligibility in the "Best Adaptation" category is but I suspect it may have been earlier in October.

Game of the Year for me would definitely be a toss-up between Grisaia: Chronos Rebellion, Anonymous;Code, Ginka, Stella of the End, Warhammer 40k: Boltgun, Starfield, Eternights, Alan Wake II, Ghostpia: Season One, Trepang2, Atomic Heart or Loop8: Summer of Gods.

If the cut-off was at that date, there would be no eligibility for Alan Wake 2 either to compete at any award - because it got released on the very same day. Also, Spider-Man 2 was released just about a week before, so it's all late October at best.

So yeah, the FNAF movie was most likely not even considered to participate to begin with.

I'm not too surprised that AC6 isn't nominated for GOTY. As someone who played the game & finished it, I honestly don't think it's GOTY worthy. It's a great game don't get me wrong but I don't consider it to be among Fromsoft's best titles.

That aside, I'm shocked Dragon's Dogma 2 isn't nominated for Best Anticipated Game. Is it because it doesn't have an actual confirmed release date yet?

I'd argue It Takes Two was more niche than Armored Core (I mean, even just based on how well-known FROMSOFT is at this point), and that didn't just get nominated, it won.
