Reina looks pretty cool. I thought Victor's trailer overshot "cool" and hit "tryhard", but that's admittedly a fairly narrow sweetspot that differs for most everyone. Tekken 8 looks like it'll be off to a good start upon release.

Can't say I ever particularly cared for Koromaru. A lack of a social link, main plot relevance, and combat prowess meant he was an adorable benchwarmer when I played p3. And, I already refused to take young Ken into Tartarus. It didn't feel right to bring the dog along, when he had an implied understanding of the circumstances at best. Maybe some of this was addressed in portable though.

Is half of the article gone? The usual outro isn't there.

That's because Jean-Karlo (FinalVentCard) didn't write this week's article. (Which explains the article not having the usual I'll see you in seven line.)

Its not even posted by Jean-Karlo, nor was one posted last week. I hope he is ok? Its concerning there was no mention of this in the article and its by a different person this week. Like I don't expect to be told any personal details but some kinda mention or heads up shoulda been said, otherwise it just makes readers worry more...

On a related but not as important note (Unless it continues), I think this is the most bare bones and smallest TWIG I've ever seen in the last decade...

Hi everyone, Isaiah Colbert is filling in for Jean-Karlo while he's on medical leave. Jean-Karlo is okay and expected to make a full recovery after an accident that unfortunately affects his ability to type right now.

I'll be working with Isaiah on getting the column to what you expect in the meantime, but this week was a sort of urgent matter and happened to also align with Anime NYC. If you want to send any get well soon messages to J-K, I'm sure he'd love to hear from you.

A couple weeks back he mentioned an EMT and a hospital, but it seemed a little too blasé to mean that he was in the hospital...

Losing motor functions and/or mobility sucks. Please get better, dude.

Hmm, I see Lynzee, thanks for the heads up, but yeah, well wishes to Jean-Karlo, and hopes he makes a miraculous recovery. But yeah, it was kinda weird seeing this week's article being not the usual style that J-K writes (usually with something Xenoblade related), along with his outro line.

That's unfortunate. Good luck to his recovery.

I also didn't immediately notice that Jean-Karlo hadn't been writing TWIG lately, so all the best for his recovery.

Thanks for letting us know Lynzee, glad to hear he's ok and that it's expected full recovery. To Jean-Karlo, wishing you well and praying for a speedy and full recovery.

The other anime-game release this week that I'm aware of is the Yohane the Parhelion game from Inti Creates. It's pretty decent - I'm only 2 bosses in, but it feels like a very solid Metroidvania.

Right, so it seems a bunch of you don't follow my Twitter, which we can deal with some other time. But as I've mentioned there: I was hit by a car on the 4th, and broke both my arms. I won't be able to write TWIG or play video games while I recover. The good news is that the damage to my arms was just at my arms; it'll take some time, but I should be able to make a full recovery. (I was blasé about being sent to the ER because... I dunno man, not sure how else to process it. Better to laugh about it and see the sunny side, yeah?)

I'm very humbled, flattered and grateful that folks missed my usual flourishes this week. I deeply appreciate my readers and I very much miss writing the column for you guys. I scroll through Twitter on my phone and think, "man, I'd be covering that news right about now". For now, please show Isaiah the same warmth you show me.

I'm desperately hoping I don't miss any Izuna news while I'm gone. But no matter. Right now, I'm focused on healing, rehabbing my arms, and biding my time until I can rejoin everyone. Like Lynzee said, any positive messages or well-wishes that you can spare tossing at my Twitter (@mouse_inhouse) would be appreciated.

I'm sorry for lying; it'll be a bit more than seven before I come back. But be good to each other. And thank you for noticing when I'm gone; it's all a writer could ask for.

Be good for Isaiah!

OOF, that's rough man. Don't worry, we'll be very good for the substitute

-Lights matches-

Anyway, not a lot going on this week besides the Super Mario RPG remake and mocking the Game Awards' continued desperation for respectability.

That’s a first.

Quote:
In an interview with CNBC, Sega chief operating officer Shuji Utsumi said that Sonic the Hedgehog's Hollywood movie success has the company looking into adapting its other famous works into TV shows and films. Two intellectual properties Utsumi earmarked for potential adaptations were Persona and the Yakuza (Like A Dragon) role-playing game series.

Does Persona really need that exposure given they made what 2 movies out of 3 (before the acquisition by Sega? And had two anime series adapted from 4 and 5. And you just know in the event it does happen it’ll be likely based off the later games which is going to lead to people complaining about how Persona 1 & 2 still get no love from Altus.

Quote:
The biggest highlights of the match were wrestler Konosuke Takeshita wearing stellar Goro Majima cosplay while hitting dudes in the head with a bicycle and Kōta Ibushi taking a gnarly tombstone piledriver on a ramen shop sign stacked auspiciously on top of a pile of steel chairs.

I wish r/Squaredcircle wasn’t a cesspool of easily hurt feelings and plain stupidity otherwise I would’ve caught some highlights
