I’m confused. Is this a sanctioned adaptation?

Fan projects are very rarely ever officially sanctioned much less endorsed by the original creators or IP owners.

What does this even mean? even with the seemingly established context presented later in the article.

Well, it's very ambitious of them, but I have to respect the attempt.

Even if the fan project doesn’t hit its lofty goal, it’s hard to get really mad at one. Better this than Frederator.

There are at least two arcs during Guts' loner asshole arc that were never adapted by either the original '97 series, or the 2016 adaptation. The Black Swordsman arc in particular was heavily cut down with the Snake Lord's events being an in-media res introduction to the series, while the Count's arc was skipped almost entirely in the 2016 adaptation (they pretty much just kept the carriage ride). They also skipped the Lost Children arc that serves as the re-introduction to post-Eclipse Guts.

I fully expected this sentence in the article to end with "a cease & desist letter."

1-Frederator is making Berserk?
2-....WHY is that a bad thing?

The last time I read about this project, they were accused of tracing the original animation in some of their stills.
I'll wait for any updates oherwise.

Adi Shankar mentioned he wanted to adapt Berserk and the reaction was met pretty harshly. Granted, he’s currently suing Frederator last I checked over their attempt to oust him from Castlevania.

I hope this adaptation looks good. Can't wait to see it. This arc is one my favorites of the series.

Yeah, my main question with this is whether the rights owners will do anything about it. Even if it sticks to parts of the Black Swordsman arc that the anime didn't cover, I could see this getting into some trouble. That risk only increases if it covers stuff that the anime already did since it would easily be seen as an attempt to replace the official one.

Is this going to be like the Bartkira project? Where they did a limited version of the comic in order to avoid any lawsuits? This project would have to be shared online or sold on bd-r discs I'm sure. It's interesting to see how this will come to fruition, especially since it's getting coverage about the project online.

I forsee this ending well.
They made that terrible AoT fan ending? This is going to be so good! /s Also those two scenes are direct copies from the Golden Age trailer. Even character design look traced.
If this ever gets momentum its going to end up being a few minutes of amateur animation before fading into obscurity. That, or a C&D comes knocking.
