Well, Mario's performing quite well, I can see the game having pretty good legs. I'm kind of surprised that the MGS Collection managed to sell a couple thousand more units on Switch than on PlaySation, despite Metal Gear being more closely associated with Sony's consoles, that and the fact that the Switch version has some very bad graphics and emulation performance compared to the other consoles and that Konami didn't bother to fit one PSOne game and two PS2 games on a single game card, it requires you to download most of its content.
Regarding hardware, the Switch 4k more units compared to last week, and for the first time in quite a while Xbox managed to sell more consoles than the PS5 |

For the 6th week in a row and the 7th time overall (first time) Pikman has been overthrown factually and historically.[ Removed ]
[ Removed ] The 2020's on PS in the PS5 gen is not the same as the late 2010's during the PS4 gen when the Switch was out a for a few years, hence why Vesperia and Symphonia re-release sales are opposite. Tales of Symphonia on PS2 in 2004 sold 269k first week. The PS3 collection version in 2013 sold 80k first week. The PS4 version in 2023 sold 7k first week (digital will be miniscule). In comparison, the original ToS on Gamecube in 2003 sold 183k first week. The 1st re-release of ToS on Nintendo in 2023 sold 21k first week. This was not a surprise. It (ToS) was the 1st re-release on Nintendo in 20 years and the Tales of games that do release on Nintendo had very good to decent 1st weeks consistently. Let's get to the main point now, which is Metal Gear. The original MGS collection on PS3 in 2011 sold 58k first week. The Vita version in 2012 sold 23k. The Vol. 1 collection on PS5 sold 13k (digital will be miniscule). As we saw in the PS4 gen, portable and home console owners are not the same on PS so we can ignore the Vita sales. In comparison, the Switch version sold 19k. This is not a surprise. The MGS games that released on Nintendo in 2004 on Gamecube sold 35k first week and in 2012 on 3DS sold 32k first week. Both Tales of and Metal Gear are PS dominant series, but their Nintendo releases in the past have been decent. PS not outselling Switch is due re-release decline and the current climate of the platform in the 2020's. If you want to include PS gamers in Japan not wanting to support Metal Gear due to Kojima's horrible exit at Konami then go ahead. There's multiple factors involved regardless. The bar for Metal Gear collections on PS was already low at 58k on its 1st release. Unlike Symphonia re-release which started at 80k (after the original port on PS2 was 269k) then ended up at 7k on PS4. 13k physical on PS5 is not a negative nor surprising. [ Removed ]
[ Removed ] Once the week of November 10 happens, Xbox won't outsell PS5 in Japan for the rest of the generation as Sony's stock issues (which is the reason Xbox even had a chance of outselling PS5 outside of a launch week) will be over and Xbox will go back to competing with the PS4 (not a typo). Mario Wonder almost doubled everything else in the top 20 combined. Not surprising but still impressive.
