The premise is iffy, but it looks like the animation and the hijinks will be worth it. I wonder how long it'll take to get dubbed into English, and who'll play the younger versions of the characters. I'm cautiously optimistic.

At the very least it could mark the return of my favourite character, Gohan. He disappeared after the Cell Arc, or at least turned into a rather boring character.

Considering the concept, & it more than likely going to run for well over a full year nonstop, I do wonder if Daima turning everyone into smaller forms might also be an excuse to do the one thing that no one has wanted to think about, but had to happen at some point: Recasting.
I mean, by the time Daima debuts late next year, Masako Nozawa will be around 87 years old. While she can still certainly voice Adult Goku, and Child Goku for stuff like video games, I do wonder if she'll be able to consistently do a Child Goku voice on a weekly basis for a TV series that will likely run until she's nearly 90. If anything, Daima is the perfect way to transition things over to a new voice for Goku (& maybe some of the other cast, too) by having Nozawa voice Adult Goku for Episode 1, followed by having Small/Child Goku voiced by someone new, and then when the show ends 1.5-2 years down the line (& everyone returns to their normal bodies) the new voice actor can then voice Adult Goku, effectively passing the torch down by having someone new voice a young Goku first, before moving on to voicing the Goku that everyone's come to know & love. Cobra in the 00s did something similar with the Time Drive OVA, where Nachi Nozawa (who reprised Cobra for The Psychogun OVA) played Cobra, only for him to encounter younger version of him voiced by Naoya Uchida, who would then voice Cobra for the TV series that came afterwords, & I thought it worked out really well. |

Thats assuming its even a tv-series. If this is the show that was hinted at before its gonna be a webseries which i don't think will run for that long.

Okay, if you feel the need to go "don't worry, this is totally different!" then it's probably not that different. Not that I blame them for wanting to distance themselves from GT. If this series is going to be "GT but done right," then there's some good potential there. Also, I wonder how permanent this whole "everyone becomes chibi" thing will be, given that the trailer shows adult Goku and Vegeta fighting. Or was that meant as a flashback? He literally needed it to catch up to UI Goku and UE Vegeta and of course he deserved it. After the Mystic Kai training at the end of Z and the training before the TOP, he realised he needed to get stronger and even said he would make a new form; Beast was it. |
