I don't think it was ever leaked by leakers of CR themselves. It was more of high speculations when CR's French Twitter account followed the official Kaiju No.8 account when it was first created. CR following official accounts right after it's created usually is a tell tale sign.

Past examples I can think of CR acquiring shows after they follow official accounts before announcments were JJK, Dr. Stone, Chainsaw Man (this was accidentally leaked though), Spider Isekai.

Very nice, I'm anticipating many of these.

Having never seen the old Spice and Wolf anime, do you guys recommend me to watch it before this new one drops or to wait and start with the remake?

Kaiju 8 and Sengoku Youko are my picks for Crunchyroll's today new announcements, specially the last one, I have faith in White Fox to not mess it up and luckily in a couple of years we can get an decent and full adaptation of Spirit Circle.

You posted the Kaiju No. 8 trailer twice. Where's Bye-Bye Earth's trailer?

Kaiju No. 8 and the 7th Loop Villainess are the ones that have caught my attention. And Monopolyroll keeps killing the competition.

This trailer makes it clear that this is a complete reboot, so you shouldn't be missing anything if you start your viewing with this one. (This statement is, of course, subject to revision as the new series comes out. The old series took its time with adapting four novels, but that also allowed it to cover almost every little detail. If this new series paces faster, it will have to trim/omit things.)

That being said, I still recommend checking out at least one episode of each of the two seasons of the original so you can experience the OPs. Both are outstanding. The ED for the first season is also unique.

It looks like a remake so you won't need to watch the original anime to follow the story. That said, the original series was so well done, I always recommend watching it.
I'm also quite upset that instead of a long awaited season 3 we get a remake instead? Why, why, why? The original series was perfection!

Thanks for the answers, I'll probably check the original out seeing it's so beloved. I actually only doubted because Kevin Penkin is scoring the remake which automatically makes it a must watch.

Very glad that CR got the rights to Spice & Wolf. I just hope they get the original VAs for the dub. Or, at the bare minimum, get Brina Palencia and J. Michael Tatum for Holo and Lawrence. They were amazing in those roles, and I don't think a dub without them will sound right.
