He handled this with so much more class than I ever would.

The accusations did not come from nowhere. It started some months ago when Araizumi posted an illustration very different from the usual style.
People also noticed Araizumi experimented with AI before that. Sudden drastic shift in art style + Used AI before = Accusations of using AI without acknowledgment. The method used to disprove AI usage is funny: Others who did use AI have done a similar thing of adding some base material and turning some layers on and off. It is noticeable large chunks of the art process are missing from the layers shown. Weird they did not simply record the drawing from start. But, despite bringing that up, I will say: I do not know if AI was used. I am not that smart. Maybe Araizumi simply did not think to record drawing. So, I can simply only give Araizumi the benefit of the doubt. I will also say: Whether or not AI was used, as a fan, it is disappointing Araizumi has shifted from a unique art style to a very generic online artist one. |

There gotta be some proven methodologies or checkpoints to determine if any art is made by AI or pre-made with AI with human modifications, right? Instead of witch hunting artistsand made them look miserable, after all, even after being proven innocent, those who accused the artist aren’t going to apologize, they just move on and pretend nothing happened and move on to their next target, how is that fair and how is that NOT going to affect artists’ motivations and mental state?
The artist handled the false accusations with dignity and class, the doubters, like being stated above, use this suspicions and Prejudice as weapon and justification to harass |

You can still clearly see his unique style in the characters features. It's not as predominant but still there. |

I thought it was pretty obvious that's a joke with the AI. |

Certain companies purport to sell such services, but experiments have proven them to be nothing but snake oil. They generate so much false negatives and false positives that they're no better than a coin toss. In short, there's nothing out there that can conclusively prove or disprove a finished piece was generated by an AI, except looking for the obvious clues which are fading away as the models get better. |

THIS is the result of this whole AI scare. I've seen multiple artists get falsely accused of using AI because of this whole outrage to AI art. It's completely disgusting behavior to go around accusing people and dog pile them.

We have to remember there's a distinction between using AI art as is, or using it as an inspiration, in the latter case, for example, experimenting with layouts, character designs etc, and THEN using the results as an inspiration. In essence that would be no different from using a model or a photograph as an inspiration to draw/sculpt etc. Though if an artist is lazy there's always a chance they might be tempted to take a shortcut. But that already happens even without AI, in the case of plain old plagiarism... |

Shame on everyone.
Still, that really doesn't look anything like Araizumi's style. His style is very stuck in the 90s and that's why I love it. It's definitely jarring to see. |

Recording a timelapse bloats the file size and makes auto-saving lag like crazy. Most people aren't gonna use that feature unless they have some sort of clairvoyant power that informs them they're going to be accused of using AI. |

Has Araizumi-sensei still not clarified their gender? I remember back in April last year, they started posting pictures of themself as a woman, but people took it as an April Fool's joke. Yet they seem to have never stopped posting constantly in women's dress for the past year and a half, and all references to their gender were removed from their self-published bios. I can't find anything online in Japanese that specifies either. One blog post concluded Araizumi-sensei has yet to specify, and there are still a lot of people in recent twitter replies who are confused or surprised.
Unless someone can clear up my confusion, it might be reasonable to use non-gendered pronouns in the article? Maybe? [Edit] They use "washi" as a pronoun. No pronoun is exclusive to any gender, technically, but a woman using that one is a bit... unique. And they intentionally removed all gender markers from their bio. Not changed, but removed. So I seriously can't tell if they're just playing a really long joke or are non-binary/genderless or actually exploring their gender, or what. And while I feel weird trying to investigate someone's gender, I feel like knowing is still helpful when addressing them in English. Gah. |

Speaking as an (amateur) illustrator myself, sometimes artists like to try something completely different from the usual just for shits and giggles. Drawing in the exact same way every time can get boring after several years, and it can be fun and exciting to try something completely new once in a while. Heck, we can even like the resulting work that comes from it, or just enjoy the challenge of making something so different from normal. It's kinda like married couples trying something new in bed after a long time just to spice things up, so to speak. |

He called himself an ojisan not too long ago so I think it is best to consider him male until he says otherwise. My guess is that he either likes crossdressing or he is joking around. |
