He 'sort of' got caught with child porn like the Kenshin guy, but managed to buy his way to an obscenity. (At least if Wikipedia is accurate.) So, YMMV on Reubens.

This news hits me HARD! I was a big fan of Pee Wee's Playhouse when it aired on CBS Saturday mornings back in the day and Paul's iconic wackiness was what brought huge smiles to my face!

He bulk bought boxes and boxes of vintage and kitsch pornography. The authorities went through it all with a fine-tooth comb until they came up with a handful of pictures that they said were "child porn." The case was so weak that the DA wasn't even going to go forward with charges, but the city attorney decided to file a case on the very last day they could. It's absolutely not the same kind of situation as Nobuhiro Watsuki. |

I was in my early twenties watching Pee Wee's Playhouse in the 80's, SO loved how underground it was. I even remember watching the HBO special when it first aired wondering, 'What the hell am I watching and why are my eyes glued?!" I still believe his first movie was the crowning achievement. A one-of-a-kind performer! I'll miss that voice and that laugh.... RIP you mad genius!

I don't think I ever before knew that he was Lock in Nightmare Before Christmas. Although I was slightly too young to have grown up with the Playhouse, I did enjoy renting Big Adventure from my local Blockbuster and always really liked that movie. I think I actually know him best as the sting cop in Matilda, the weird guy in the Buffy movie, and the Spleen in Mystery Men, for whatever reason.
