Hashino leave of the Persona core team while trying to do his own fantasy RPG turned out just literally making another Persona with EVERYTHING except the name, but in a fantasy setting is kinda hilarious at this point — and I don't even know if I suppose to laugh or cry because of that.

Yeah it's exactly like Persona. Who could forget the iconic Persona Press Turn battle system, or Persona's iconic magnetite resource? I especially love Persona's class system.

It's got a lot of similar aesthetics and vibes, but I'm fine with that. Persona 6 is going to be under heavy scrutiny since Hashino won't be involved and creators leaving a series is always a gamble but if it ends up being lackluster we'll have this. I think it'll be interesting to see how some of the gameplay elements with mingle with more traditional RPGs. No reliance on the school setting or time management structure that Persona has. It was certainly the highlight of the presentation for me.

Not sure if trolling or just trying in poor sarcasm — because what the trailer literally shows has way more similarities with Persona than just being your regular party turn-based JRPG.
Run-of-the-mill MegaTen battle system using "stand power" and party powered up by it with the plot, mixing up DDS with Persona with inheriting and gaining skills by playing the game? Check.
Time management structure? Check.
Same old five social stats? Check.
Social links, which including the non-party members? Check.
God dang it, they showed the very same MegaTen skill names at this point!

Except they are not really "leaving" the series - they just announced it along with two actual Persona games including the remake of 3, not to mention they already trying to make bank on its current popularity by trying to give its formula with the other games - like Soul Hackers 2, for example.
The problem is Hashino really playing it perhaps too safe in my opinion (unlike Catherine, for example), with the new game with the very same core elements as Persona - despite being in development for 6 years.

Ehm, time management structure still exist - because why do you think they still have phases of the day and calendar in its UI that were shown in the gameplay trailer? (0:24)
Heck, I'm not even sure if the school setting is not the existing thing either, considering the MC design and lectures mentioned.

Looks good, will definitely pick it up. The first thing I think of when I see that blue hair and the headband that reminds me of Aigis is, "Oh, so the protagonist of P3 got the isekai treatment."

Really though, I thought it was Marth from Fire Emblem which made me do a double take as that would never happen on an Xbox stream.

With this title, I am expecting the most unsubtle, hamfisted writing possible. I'd be disappointed with anything less.

So basically Persona in a fantasy setting...which actually sounds kind of cool, especially with those style and graphics.
I hope the Social Link system still lets you romance party members.
In the trailer I hear Noriko Hidaka, Yuichi Nakamura, Toru Furuya, Saori Hayami, Natsuki Hanae, and maybe Kensho Ono?

I'd laugh if this was just Hashino's way to stealth-produce a mainline SMT game. Hats off to the man for gaming the system. Either way, looks great.

This is Persona + SMT, it has everything in one.
Also Microsoft only? Sounds like an exclusivity deal was signed as well.

Nah, 100% not exclusive. Most likely just paid embargo until they mention the other platforms, same as with Persona Royal 5 on PC.

Not seeing anything here screaming next-gen. The game definitely started dev on PS4, so I hope it still releases on that.
The artstyle feels more akin visually to Gravity Rush, and not at all like the beautiful concept art by Soejima. The UI and menus are hot though!
I don't mind the Persona formula applied to a completely different setting. I'm sure there will be more to it, but we'll have to wait to see more.

Very likely that like Reload, Microsoft got a temporary announcement deal, and that this game is coming to all consoles, including Xbox One, PS4 and PS5. Maybe not Switch, going by Reload.
