Really curious to know if we’re finally going to get some more info on the twisted wonderland anime or is this just going to be a new announcement for in game event.

I hope that they announce it next year!

Scared about the Kenshin anime considering the mess that was Shaman King 2021. Then again I can't really complain after the liveaction

The live-action films were widely celebrated, weren’t they? I mean, I enjoyed them, almost to the point I wondered why an animated remake was necessary after the film series. But I suppose if you want a more accurate adaptation, this would be the way to go given how much the films compressed or omitted.

Hopefully the screening of the Aobuta movie means some kind of US release will be this year....

That's cool they were able to get both of Mash's VA's for it. I'm surprised Zach Aguilar isn't showing up for Demon Slayer.

Would you be refering to the animation? Pacing? Both?

Wasn't aware there's a Rascal Does Not... film. Really enjoyed the 1 (?) season of that that got an anime; will have to try to remember to watch the film.

Couldn't really edit anything for anybody to sound any nicer. Plus, too much was quoted, then re-quoted, so I just wiped the slate clean. Everybody loses (including me). If you can't, then don't.

Huh. I guess we're getting a legal release for Kenshin after all. I was sure that the controversy with the author would force fans to pirate any forthcoming adaptations.

Really? I thought it was pretty clear for a while now that the corporations involved are going to publish it anyway.

I think a lot of us will voluntarily choose not to consume it (me included), but it has seemed pretty clear for a while it will remain at the level of a discourse between consumers.

Not too sure how much to say there, given how badly the thread already got nuked over this issue. Laughing

At the Aniplex online event last year, the actors playing Kenshin and Kaoru spoke to Nobuhiro Watsuki. I think what Kaoru's actress said was, Watsuki considers the new anime to be yet another alternate reality from his manga.

So I think while it be closer to the manga compared to the films, it's going to omit all of the goofy "ORO ORO ORO ORO" stuff much like the OVAs and the New Kyoto arc did. I just get that vibe because in the trailer for the new one, Kenshin says "Oro?" and it's pretty regular without all of the goofiness the original anime had.

I guess you never know though.

Live-action will never be able to compete with animation so I don't see the live-action films existing as being justifications to not make a proper anime adaption. Most fans would much prefer an anime adaption. Myself especially!

This is actually the second film for the franchise but, as far as I know, the first (Rascal Does Not Dream Of A Dreaming Girl) remains unavailable for streaming in NA or for Region 1 home distribution.

The streaming release is no surprise, same thing happened when Funimation got the original for streaming on their site in 2020 and Netflix getting the live-action sequels in 2021.

The real questions are if this new show gets a dub later on and if Aniplex puts it out on English Blu-ray and how far they will go with it (pull a Demon Slayer or keep it exclusive to their overpriced LEs). I imagine things will get more messy if either of them happen.
