Well, horror directors have made big and successful media jumps before.

Does Street Fighter have enough of a story that Capcom and a Hollywood executive will allow it to be filmed, or are we going to get yet another unrelated story that just seems to have the Street Fighter characters copy and pasted? (Everyone remembers the 94 movie failing to turn the series into a war epic, and then Legend of Chun Li Bison was a real estate scammer).
Well, if they go that route, maybe we can get an over-the-top Bison again. Nicolas Cage as Bison. If they're not going to take it seriously, we should have a lead that doesn't either.

The closest thing SF had to having a serious, main story was in Street Fighter V, which.... frankly, was just as disconjointed and poor as the '94 movie.

To be pretty fair the tournament aspect of the games has never really lended itself really well to an adaptation. Something that even the animated adaptations have either downplayed or ignored.

I think Street Fighter would work better in animation form, whether is an animated series or a movie, kinda like the recent Tekken and Mortal Kombat animated adaptations.
