This is wild. I'm not too surprised about the characters in the top 22, other than Kakashi's dad he's only in like a few pages of the series, but I am surprised by some of their placements. The biggest surprise is that Sakura was the 3rd most popular character. I guess this proves that all of the Sakura hate online is a vocal minority.

Considering the fact Kishimoto admitted in interviews that Sakura received lots of hate and he desperately tried to raise her popularity (it had no effect according to him), no, it's not just a vocal minority. This poll was heavily skewed from the start when Kishimoto said he'll do a short story about the character, hence you get characters like Kakashi's dad in the top 10. But also lots of fans of certain characters resorted to dirty tricks like using bots. |

2 whole women (well, that is on Kishimoto and his disregard for women) and Kakashi´s dad whose entire screen time can´t even fill a chapter at 7. Wow! Would I have liked to read a one-shot about him? Maybe but who would say no to a Kakashi solo story? He has ties to everyone. A vehicle for Kishimito to write borderline anything. That would have been the smart vote. I had to think for a second who Minato was again and now learned that Naruto´s dad has fans. Did I read a different manga from the voters? One of the most bizarre poll results I saw in years. Oneshot or not. Respect.
Boruto is in the last chapter but not in the top 100. I guess he was out by default. Regardless, a borderline terrible character. And who is worse? Sakura! She became a truly terrible character after the time jump but was fine before that. Basically a parody of female leads in Jump-formula manga. |

And as expected, tying a one-shot to a popularity poll was an incredibly stupid idea, because the characters who will top popularity polls are the characters who would need fleshing out the least.

I don't think most people are going to vote for an uninteresting character or one they outright hate just for the chance that a new one-shot might make them likeable. Minato is one of the top characters in the fandom. Even the minor characters like Kakashi's father and Shusui were genuinely popular in the fandom before this. Perhaps the knowledge skewed results a little, but nothing on this list is surprising at all or out of place compared to how past popularity polls went. |

Genuinely had no idea that Minato was popular whatsoever to this actually came as a surprise to me. Rock Lee got robbed.

Of course MinaGOAT won. He's so cool. He deserves it. Can't wait to see what his story is. I hope Kishimoto goes all out since this is a one time opportunity to expand on Minato's life not shown in the manga.
Let's go! My #1 Naruto waifu Anko made the top 99. My other waifu's Tayuya and Samui as well. Thank you voters for not forgetting these fine characters. And of course, Temari and Shizune made it as expected. With that said... Holy crap! Otoha and Kohada are in the top 99? LMAO This is amazing. Respect to everyone that voted for them. They literally only appeared in 1 panel and still made the top 99. I understand why. Kishimoto went in on their designs. It hurts that they only appeared in 1 panel. Since this was the 1 chance to get a story on them, it made sense that these 2 fine characters got in the top 99. I still want a story on Otoha at least. She is jaw dropping. |
