That's a shame, the last few chapters were really great but I guess it was too little too late. That said it was still a pretty solid ending.

Yeah, it was really too late at this point - and I actually want Watanabe to rebound with the next title cause he has a certain potential.

Who's gonna be next on the WSJ chopping block though (in a couple of months at least):

Ichigoki - 100%, zero possibilities of survival, and honestly it's better to be killed faster just because of how exactly the worst of the batch it is.
Fabricant 100 - most likely die along the way at the same time as Ichigoki because there are no real cushions for it to rebound even if some older series gonna end soon (like Mashle or UU).
Cipher Academy - really, I think it wasn't meant to be WSJ material to begin with because it's not really fit any kind of niche of its auditory, and I honestly don't know why they shuffled it there. Most likely die at the same time as the other two.

And so, the only survivors of 2022 will be Akane-banashi and Ichinose Deadly Sins (well, there is also Ruri Dragon, but considering the author's condition - who knows what happens with the serialization of it)

I really liked reading this series. I'll miss it. Watanabe deserves another shot, because he has potential.

I would be very sad if Cypher Academy ended soon. The underlying story is quite interesting, as are the puzzles. It is one of the few series that I read every week.

I'm not surprised; the titular characters were the only consistently interesting thing about the manga.

It didn't help that the supporting cast would just sometimes disappear for no reason from time to time.

Gotta make room for the next stuff to cancel, I guess.

This was a nice little series, nothing great but it really screamed potential. The sort of manga that, if given time, probably would have evolved into something great. But time is a luxury Jump manga can't afford. At least it got a pretty decent ending by cancelled manga standards.

If we go by the (somewhat dubious) standard of the weekly rankings, Cipher Academy isn't doing so bad. It's camped slightly below the middle of the rank list, and while that isn't great, I don't think it's quite bad enough to lump it in with likely cancellations like Ichigoki and Fabricant 100, which are at the very bottom. There are long-running series like Black Clover and Yozakura Family which have actually ranked below Cipher lately.

Does that mean Cipher is safe? Not necessarily, especially since it's been inconsistent in its popularity. But it feels like it could has a good chance to make it.

I think Cipher is the kind of series made by the Bakuman protagonists. The kind that often hangs around mid-low in rankings, but then shoots up from time to time when it's closing an arc.

I had interest in Ginka at the beginning, but then kinda lost it, but then checked it out again recently, and I was surprised by how good the recent chapters were. The author has really strong potential here. I hope he makes a hit in his next work.

Nah, it's actually doing nearly as bad as Fabricant 100 - and not because of it being at the bottom of the weekly rankings list along with this bunch, but also with the fact that the first volume of it got very, VERY bad sales that are not fit pretty experienced even in Jump author as Nisio - and way less than already canned and axed PPPPPP.

Black Clover maybe can sit at the bottom of rankings, but it's still a big seller of WSJ that is already on the finishing run - while Yozakura is barely hanging while being a mid-carder with enough volume sales that somehow being in the safety because there is always someone gets to the chopping block before it first, same as UU (and even UU at least got some rebounds with the current story). Cipher Academy got none of that.

I read the first chapter of this when it came out and it was okay, but I had a strong feeling we'd end up here so I never continued.
