Has there ever been an attempt to research how many viewers drop of a show never to return due to delayed episodes? It is a good thing when new episodes show up after a delay but I wonder how many people actually return to it.

Sounds like they're filling up the air time slots they've already paid for with however much of the show they can finish in that timeframe.
But yeah, trickling out episodes piecemeal and then hoping people will tune in for when the whole thing re-airs at some later date doesn't sound like a recipe for success. And the blame for that falls squarely on Aniplex's poor production scheduling.

Your classic good news/bad news scenario. The good news is that we know exactly when the next two episodes will air and that begins next week. The bad news is that the airing of the seventh episode and beyond is still a question mark. Oh well.

At this stage they are finishing up their already paid for airtime slots and are probably going to re-broadcast it in the summer season.

I hope this gives the production enough time to finish at least one cour before restarting broadcasts.

Not to mention it's hard to be enthused about the show coming back knowing it'll still probably get censored as hard as the first few episodes were. And I say this as someone who liked the characters and their dynamics.

I'm sure that Japanese networks keep track of their viewers for anime and anything else and would notice the affect delays have on them.

That would be interesting data to see, one has to wonder how much of the viewerbase you lose depending on a delay and how long said delay is.

Yep. I was already in the wait for the bluray camp, but that is assuming I even remember it that far out.
