The bound volume market is 3.2 times larger than the magazine market despite the slowdown in sales. I wonder if that will make popularity charts in magazines even less relevant. There are multiple manga on my reading lists at 10 volumes and higher with questionable performances with readers of the mags that publish the new chapters first. The popularity of web releases is also easy to figure out. Drops there are easy to figure out with fairly basic analysis html tools.
