Are these presenters going to stay in America or travel to Japan? And Aidan Hutchinson, really? Were they not able to reach the no. 1 weeb of the Detroit Lions, Jamaal Williams? Also they could have invited Finn's brother Nick to co-present, since Nick is an anime voice actor.

And the majority will be scratching their heads, "Who the heck are those guys?" |

And as an anime fan, I'm doing just that to these people. Seems like they're doing the same thing The Game Awards did. Getting mainstream celebrities so they seem more legitimate and big. Here's hoping some of them pull a "I don't watch anime, they just paid me to be here lol" like some of the celebrities at TGA did. |

I’m getting major Al Pacino at Game Awards vibes. “The check cleared, that’s why I’m here.”

I concur. The only people I recognize on this list are the two streamers; and not because I watch them but because I've heard their names in passing before, and I don't think they're known for anything particularly anime or Japanese-related. Aren't they Among Us streamers? Of the people on the list, the only guest I think makes sense is Robert Rodriguez since he directed the live-action Alita film. Otherwise, I'm not particularly interested in American actors and athletes who have nothing to do with anime. |

Believe it or not some athletes were children when Toonami was a thing that used to air during the mornings. Athletes like Zion Williamson, Jamaal Williams, and JuJu are evidence of this. In fact, Zion himself has a lot to say about NBA players who are into anime Jamaal Williams describes how anime was motivational for him during a tough first season in Detroit. Curiously, that article has a quote from Geoff Thew of all people. It seems like a real missed opportunity from Crunchyroll to get him, seeing how passionate he is. I'm not sure how much of a fan anime Aidan Hutchinson is however, and googling his name with anime, there's this one article from the paid sports news website The Athletic.
You have a point there. However, I wouldn't say mangaka should present awards because a lot of them are very reclusive e.g. Oda, Gege, Arakawa for example. Like a lot of Eiichiro Oda's pictures on the Internet are dated, and his more recent "appearances" are censored for privacy most likely. |

I personally don't mind there being celebrities and athletes, just wished there were more industry peeps too. Idk just a way to show they are appreciated outside of japan. Or even dub voice actors for that matter. Feels like a wasted opportunity. I know juju is a big fan, but from reading these comments people less familiar with sports are not gonna like this.

Two streamers that don't really fall into the anime category huh. Well, I know Sykkuno likes vtubers, though does that really count..? No idea about the rest of the people.

I don't know a single thing about sports or American shows. I'm pretty much just a weeb. |

Yeah, but anime is kinda trendy right now, and some celebrities are either expressing their long held admiration for it like French basketball player Rudy Gobert or really getting into it like Jamie Lee Curtis is into One Piece, and others have built careers off of it like King Vader or RDCWorld1.
You sound like you're gatekeeping being an anime fan. I think that if you are an avid watcher of a mainstream anime like Dragon Ball or Pokemon you are most likely a casual, and that's fine by me. P.S. Not every Disney film is popular, like what mainstreamer is going to remember films like Sword in the Stone, Home on the Range or The Black Cauldron? |
